I've known of the Crown Hotel in Longton all my life, and have visited it on many occasions, As a young drinker in my late teens, the Crown as we called it, was the place to go.

They used to have a back room where a local group named Poser would do tribute gigs to such great bands as Thin Lizzy. Alas them days are long gone now, and the back room is mainly used for wedding receptions etc.

I have always liked the Crown Hotel, and found that no matter who has run the establishment , They have always run it in a warm friendly inviting way as such a place deserves.

The Hotel as far as I am aware dates from the mid Victorian period and is quite an imposing building, which may not seem very welcoming to those with children, in my opinion it is definitely more of an adult orientated hotel, e.g.: couples or business people wanting a base to explore or work in any of the Stoke-on-Trent area.

They have approx 40 rooms, catering for single, twin, double and families, for those who are unsteady on there feet please note there is no lifts available, access to rooms is via stairs.

All the rooms are tastefully decorated in keeping with the building, and are spacious and comfortable.
Each room as en-suite either bathroom/shower. Central Heating as befitting the British weather, Colour TV and they also supply you with a complimentary hospitality tray with Tea/Coffee and Biscuits.
Please note all rooms are fitted with smoke detectors.

Also available are Cots Cribs and high chairs, there is also a left luggage storage facility and post / parcel service.

You can either choose to have the continental breakfast which is included in your price, or pay a nominal extra fee for the Full English Breakfast.

Both the Lounge and Bar are equally comfortable, with very friendly staff, with the Bar serving snacks and light meals at lunch and dinner times,
But if you fancy something more substantial to eat, just step out the door, turn left and a 50 metre walk you are in Longton itself, a hive of activity, The Town is a oval circuit of Shops, bars, Café's, superb take away's and an excellent indoor market for all your needs, Also close by there is a recently added retail park which includes a Tesco Superstore, Argos, Pizza Hut and a modern Bus terminal giving you access to all of the City.

N.B you must try a local delicacy A Cheesy Oatcake, they are out of this World.

Longton like the Crown Hotel is a mixture of old and new, which has managed to blend in harmony nicely.
Also approximately half a mile away is the Famous Gladstone Pottery Museum, giving you a taste of the potteries as they used to be.
Also an ideal stop over for anyone wishing to see how football should be played, The Stoke City football stadium Brittania who's fans have always stayed loyal to there team and the club, The team always draws a large friendly crowd.

24 Hour Secure free parking is available to the rear of the Hotel for up to 60 cars, and coach parking for larger parties.

All in all a superb Hotel, a Quality assured blast from the past.

On recent price check rooms are available from £29.00. Per night.
