London overlooking Hyde Park. Completely newly refurbished, the Cumberland is a place where breathtaking style and design, exceptional comfort and personal service combine to form a truly unique experience. Many places consider themselves 'the heart of London'. But we have a stronger claim than most. Park Lane, Oxford Street, Mayfair are some of London's most illustrious addresses are right on our doorstep. Whether you are staying with us on business, taking a break or treating someone special, The Cumberland is the perfect base to discover London's unique heritage, entertainment, restaurants and shopping.
Advantages: Central location, under £10 for early bird carvery, luxury Disadvantages: none whatsoever
...found that haggling works!) The Cumberland is situated in Marble Arch on the top end of Oxford street - probably one of the most central hotels in London. Most places are walkable but if your feet get easily tired it's about a 30 second walk to Marble Arch tube station or the hotel has comissionaires to hail your your own personal taxi!
THE HOTEL
As you step into the hotel you know that it is something special, the lobby is huge with a large seating ... ...which can give you all the tourist information you need, as well as book last minute theatre tickets. THE RESTAURANTS
The hotel has two restaurants an oriental restaurant and a brasserie where the famous Cavery is served every day. This is my big hint - even if you can't afford to stay at the hotel the EARLY BIRD DINER is a must, FOR UNDER £10 you can enjoy 4 courses of the finest carvery - and the bonus is that you can EAT AS MUCH AS YOU LIKE! ...

Advantages: Soft beds, high-speed internet, friendly staff Disadvantages: Noisy at weekends, below average housekeeping
The Cumberland is easy to find, the staff are helpful, and the rooms are clean.

Upon arriving at the hotel, I was told that my room had been double booked, but they decided to grant me a free upgrade. All good except that my room was now above the hotels nightclub, and I had to put up with booming music until 3am.
That said, I did manage to have a wonderful sleep after it finished, and awoke feeling refreshed. ... ...want to get up!
The other thing I wasn't too impressed with was the bathroom. There were several cracks in the plaster, one of the lightbulbs had blown and the complimentary shampoo bottle was half empty.
My advice? At reception, ask what the noise levels are like in the room and don't accept it until you have inspected it. ...

Advantages: Right in the heart of London - off Oxford Street, good facilities Disadvantages: Expensive. Room features, car parking, congestion charge
...I stayed for a business conference/exhibition - the company managed to negotiate a deal for £130 B&B delegate rate - but was quoted £195!!!
Advantages
- in the heart of London, next to Oxford Street
- Excellent internal decoration - great foyer
- Very modern bedrooms/decoration
- Gary Rhodes Restaurant on site - I've eaten here before - great food but expensive/over rated!
- Great bar
- Great Business facilities - conference rooms/facilities
- Multi-lingual staff
- Great breakfast (again expensive if you were buying it separately)
- Lots of rooms - plenty of availability
Disadvantages
- Expensive! But this is what you expect for a London 4 star hotel - try and get an internet deal/last minute booking or if you are travelling on business a company deal
- Room decor -
a) safety green light in the bedroom - what...

...Approximately 4 months ago, my mom and I decided to make a small escapade in London; she never having gone there, and I having gone there several times and having liked. I shall be use to her as guide-interpreter within the limits of my linguistic capacities.
I thus have to make our small journey on lastminute.com. The choice of hotels came, I thus took the Rose Court Hotel for his geography-quality-price.
