...large building is situated on the quays. It is a large building which is rather similar to the Four Courts building which is situated on the opposite side of town but yet again on the quays. This was a key building in Dublin years ago and played a very important role with the importing and exporting of goods into and out of the city. Although there is very little to hear about or to see when visiting this building it is worth going to have a look ...

Advantages: amazing history to this building Disadvantages: none
...it has been damaged in the War of Independence.
Designed by Dublin's renowned architect, James Gandon, the Custom House took almost a decade to build before finally opening for business in 1791. Like many of Dublin's finest buildings and monuments, the building became embroiled in some of the violent incidents that marked the struggle for independence and was destroyed by fire in 1921 during the War of Independence.
Later the customhouse was rebuilt, ... ...was carried out in the 1980s. The visitor centre allows access to the few areas of the building which remain as originally designed by Gandon, including an impressive octagonal area and fine river-front views. The centre hosts audio-visual tours with a Gandon Museum, historical information and displays on customs administration.
It is visible from the DART line as you cross over the River Liffey. ...

Advantages: nice garden, handy for shops Disadvantages: not much to see in side
Apparently this is supposed to be based upon St. Paul's in London. But then again, it also looks like the CustomsHouse in Dublin (which was a design originally intended for St. Petersburg).

These are the red city buses as opposed to the blue of Ulsterbus.
The shops in Royal Avenue face you if you stand with the front door to your back. They are the major British retailers ...

~ ~ There has always been plenty to see in Dublin, as it is an ancient city, founded back at the time of the Vikings. Indeed, there is now a Viking longship permanently harboured in the River Liffey just up from the CustomHouse, to remind Dubliners of their Scandinavian forebearers.
It looks particularly well over the Christmas holiday period as it is all decked out in lights.
