My partner and I booked a night at the Grand for £165 for this we got an evening meal, bed and breakfast. It was slightly out of season, October so the hotel was nowhere near full, think high season would be much dearer. We were delighted to discover that we had been put into a room with a sea view, we really weren't expecting that, as we hadn't specifically ordered one, to be honest we imagined that we may be in the "boiler room bowels", we wouldn't have minded for the cost, so as I say, this was an unexpected bonus.
The room was small, but beautiflly decorated, very tasteful, olde worlde style, but obviously brand new and in perfect condition. The room was air conditioned, and also had a ceiling fan. The ensuite bathroom was something else! It had a mirror with lights all around it, a bath and power shower, sumptous robes for our use, about £20 worth of L'occitane toiletries. The bedroom also had a free wireless internet point..so I could email my friends and make them all green with envy!
The bar downstairs was beautiful, and a piano player was playing background music, so relaxing, I felt like a movie star!
The meal, it was perfect from start to finish. From the window seat table to the impeccably timed service. The menu was varied and interesting and included little extras such as a choice of artisan breads cut for you at the table, and a little portion of soup as an appetiser. The main part of the meal was totally delicious, top restaurant quality....a lot of it sourced locally. I had a warm goats cheese salad to start, a pan fried sea bass with seasonal vegetables for my main, and finished of with a creme brulee served with summer fruits. My partner had a fancy steak dish, a salmon mousse starter and the most beautiful chocolate creation for dessert.
The buffet breakfast was well stocked and nicely cooked.
Everything about this hotel was perfect. ....and if you pardon the cliche...I came away feeling like a million dollars.
