Advantages: Great day out, peaceful Disadvantages: None what so ever
Generally over the Easter holidays, my part of the country gets slightly overcrowded, so I really don't venture far. One place I always like to visit though is here, as it is only a 40 minute drive away.
Fantastic views over the sea, nice walks, good restaurant, and Donkeys, what more could you ask.

Quoting directly from the leaflet I have "The aims of the Donkey Sanctuary charity are the provision of care, protection and/or permanent security anywhere in the world for donkeys and mules which are in need of attention by reason of sickness, maltreatment, ...

Advantages: free, good parking, disabled access, refreshments, free video screening re donkey sanc, lovely location, lovely donkeys! Disadvantages: none that pop to mind, maybe limited transport if no car
...this place is one of the best. I have visited it so many times over the years can't actually recall how many times I've been and I don't even live near the area!!!!
So this is the home for abused and unwanted donkeys. it has been very interesting over the years to see how this has developed and it just gets better and better. Donkeys tend to have that sad put up on look anyway but when you watch the free video about the donks, read the information ... ...some people have done to the donkeys it makes you feel so glad that the DS exists. Also living amongst the abused donkeys are ones who have lead a good life but people just can't look after them anymore. This is therefore a lovely place for their retirement (the donkeys not the people that is!!) The other great thing about this place is that although it is a charity itself it provides donkey therapy! There is an area where special needs children ...

...18, so my friends thought the adoption of a donkey would be an ideal present...teenager's eh! So online they accessed the website and filled in the necessary forms for the adoption. Through the post I received an envelope which I couldn't open until my birthday. When the big day arrived, I was amazed to find out that I had adopted the donkey Tapestry at the centre in Sidmouth.
Within the envelope were details how to get to the particular site, a ... ...and fellow donkey friends. The site was very easy to locate using the information provided. There was plenty of space available to park, with both this and entrance free, it was perfect.
The first donkeys we came to were the 5 adoption ones, which at the hours of 11 and 2, people could groom etc. We proceeded through the beautiful green site and met many more donkeys along the way. We came to an open area where the donkeys roamed freely so we were ...

...On a recent trip to the well known Isle of Wight, one attraction we were looking forward to seeing was Carisbrooke Castle, based in the center of the island at the capital of Carisbrooke. At first, we were slightly disappointed with the leaflets describing the castle as a 'donkeysanctuary' as we wanted to see the castle rather than some donkeys, though I am glad we ignored this part as the visit was well worth while.
******Castle Overview******
‘It is my earnest hope and desire that with the help and co-operation of others I may be able to form a full collection of objects of historical interest connected with the Island, so that this memorial gatehouse may become a museum worthy of such an interesting castle.’ Quote from Princess Beatrice on 11 August 1898
This delightful medieval castle is situated high upon a hill...

...breathtaking views of the Solvent. There are lots of chines and coves to explore.
The island has numerous visitor attractions and almost every crossroad or road turning will point you in the direction of a visitor attraction, which are well signed using the brown signs. There simply is too many to mention, but the attractions include:
a donkeysanctuary (which is free to visit!!), the village of Godshill, which is pretty in itself, but also has a model village, a steam railway, an aquarium, blackgang chine (a themed activity attraction - great for under 10's), a zoo and various other wildlife attractions, Osbourne House (Queen Victoria's holiday home), Bembridge lifeboat station, the Needles lighthouse, Cowes yachting harbour, Shanklin chine, Brading wax works and many many more.
Also, there are many towns and villages to explore.

...I love Cornwall and it is an easy day trip for me living in Devon. There are quaint fishing villages as in Looe and Polpero, the magic of history in Tintagel when you can imagine King Arthur and his knights, Truro is excellant for shopping and has a wonderful cathedral, then of course there is surfing, especially on the north coast, for the more active, espcially around the Bude and Newquay areas. Whether you want peace and quiet or an active nightlife Cornwall will suit you. There is plenty for children to enjoy, from pleasure parks, the Zoo at Newquay or a donkeysanctuary and of course there is always the traditional Cornish Pastie to be tasted....
