Now I have a family of my own I decided that we should go and visit the Isle of Man as I had not been there in about 20 years or so. We got a great deal on active hotels and stayed at the Empress Hotel for five nights. The hotel is situated right on the sea front and there are fabulous views just sitting in the lobby looking out. It is very impressive both inside and outside. The hotel decor inside is very rich in taste. The bedrooms are nice and spacious and most importantly clean. They provide tea and coffee making facilities, tv all the usual things you would find in a hotel. For dining you have a good choice if you just want to stay in the hotel, they have a choice of two restaurants. During our stay we ate twice in the hotel and I must say the food was really beautiful with a wide selection of choices. For kids they have swimming facilities which are great and also have a health spa for those adults that like being pampered. In the evening there is entertainment in the lobby. The hotel were very accomodating and provided a travel cot for my son. I loved staying at the Empress it is a great hotel and you dont really need to leave same as it provides so much facilties. The staff are really friendly and I would recommend this hotel to anyone.

There are various themed gardens and in the evenings fireworks displays are set to music, with the gardens illuminated.

When i tell people about the Isle of Man and mention we have no motorways, most reply with 'what side of the road do you drive on?!' Don't worry, like the English, we drive on the left side!
About the Isle of Man:
The Isle of Man is 33 miles long and 13 miles wide. More than 40% of the Island is uninhibited! The Capital is Douglas, which offers a wide selection of places to stay. I recommend the Greysham, which is great for people on a budget! or if you want to spend a few more pennies The Empress, The Mount Murray (Castletown) or The sefton are three of the best hotels. If you don't fancy staying in Douglas, there is also the old capital, Castletown, Ramsey, Peel, Laxey, Port Erin or Port St. Mary.
