We stayed at the explores hotel for a weekend, there were 5 of us, 2 children and 3 adults. We booked this hotel through the eurostar website and found the price compared to Disney hotels very cheap (approximately £250 for 5 people for 2 nights bed and breakfast), we were also attracted to this hotel because it seemed very family orientated and offered larger rooms. The hotel is situated approximately 1 mile from the disneyland resort paris. We drove ourselves and found the hotel with no problems, as we got closer to disneyland the hotel was signposted, the hotel offered a large free carpark. We checked in in a matter of minutes and the staff were very friendly.
We arrived in our room and were very pleased with what we found. In the main room there was a double bed and 2 single beds, a wardrobed a chest of drawers a dressing table a tv with facilities including internet and a playstation (which there was a charge for) radio and some french tv channels, we had a kettle and tea and coffee, and a hair dryer. the room was decorated in a nauticle theme, we also had a large opening window over looking parkland. Off this room there were 3 doors, a toilet, a bathroom and a further bedroom which had bunkbeds and a tv, and another large opening window. We found this great for the kids, so they could go to bed and we could carry on doing what we wanted without creeping around. The kids enjoyed having their own space too. The bathroom was nice and clean and included a bath and a nice powerful shower. There were also comlimentary toiletries. The room/s were very clean and spacious.
The hotel offered a swimming pool which wasn't very big for swimming in, but did have 2 water slides which the kids found great, (as did the adults). There was also a seperate section of the pool for smaller children. There is a charge of 1 euro to hire towels but we took our own. The pool had long opening hours, it was open before we went for breakfast until about 10pm. The only problem we found with the pool was that the changing rooms we quite small and very wet underfoot. For children the was a ball pool and climbing thing (like at a wacky warehouse) which was next to the bar area so adults could sit down and relax with a drink whilst watching the kids play. There was also a pretend shipwreck for the children to explore. There was also a games room (arcade type games) which we didn't use. The hotel also had a disney store which was perfect for buying our gifts and suvineers of disney without having to carry them around the park all day. We had continental breakfast in with the price, and I must say that we found it more than satisfactory, There were rolls and croissants, a variety of jam and marmalde, a selection of fresh fruit, melon and pineapple, yoghurts and creme caramels, a selection of cereals, fruit juices and tea and coffee. There were also some cubed ham and cheese which didn't look so nice. There was also 2 restaurants for evening meals but we didn't use these, there was also a pizza parlour which we did use, and had no complaints. For eating out you can catch the shuttle to the disney village (free entrance) where there is a variety of eateries and evening entertainment.
We were very impressed with the free shuttle bus to the disney parks, it stopped outside the hotel and ran from about 6 am until midnight every 10 minutes or so. This was a large suspension bus so there was room for everyone. The bus took us directly to the parks and took about 5 minutes. Where the bus dropped us off at the entrance to disney there was also a train station so this hotel would be a good base to explore central paris too. On our return to the hotel the return shuttle service was just as good. I would highly recommend this hotel to families, as everything was very family orientated, and there are other things to do to keep the kids occupied.
