I have stayed in the Fairmont Waterfront several times, including 2 stays on the Gold floor.

The concierge service on the Gold floor is quite amazing, with the staff always ready to help and advise - including getting bookings in "full" restaurants etc. Breakfast on the Gold floor is great - but even better if you eat in the main restaurant downstairs. I have stayed in the Fairmont Waterfront several times, including 2 stays on the Gold floor. The reception area is really impressive, and a great place to sit if you have a few minutes. Check in is slick and welcoming - even better if you are booked on the Gold floor as you go straight up there, and book in in with the special concierge. All the rooms that I have stayed in are huge, with great view of the Waterfront, although the views are becoming more limited as new buildings have been developed - although I think that this is all now complete. The concierge service on the Gold floor is quite amazing, with the staff always ready to help and advise - including getting bookings in "full" restaurants etc. Breakfast on the Gold floor is great - but even better if you eat in the main restaurant downstairs. Dinner is also good in the restaurant - but I would always recommend walking around the city to eat in one of the hundreds of great places available. Just to mention a few, I would highly recommend Rossinis in Gastown, which is a great value friendly Italian family restaurant with live jazz most nights, and Water Street Cafe also in Gas Town. If you would lik esomething different, try Stonegrill at the bottom of Hornby on False Creek, where you cook your own fish and meat on hot slabs of rock. You should also not miss The Boathouse on English Bay where the fabulous seafood is only surpassed by the superb views of the sunset.
Advantages: Absolutely brilliant service and style Disadvantages: The price - unless you get a special deal
In summer 2005 I decided to take a trip to Toronto with my wife, and having had a great time in the FairmontWaterfrontVancouver, decided to stay at the Fairmont Royal York. We got a great bed and breakfast package deal on the Fairmont website about 6 months before travelling. The deal vanished the week after booking, and we saved about £50 per night by grabbing it at the right time.
As soon as we walked in we knew we had made the right choice - everything was fabulous, from the reception, other public rooms, check in, bar service, breakfast service etc etc. On our second day the breakfast receptionist remembered our names, and a few days later remembered we had been on a Niagara trip, and asked us about it!
A total experience not to be forgotten ...
