On walking into the pub

When you first walk into the pub you have the choice of either turning left or right, the right room is just a plain standing room with a few seats in where people will just go to have a chat. This is what I call the quiet and the boring room, I only ever go in there if I need to get served quickly at the bar when the other room is busy.

When you turn left you have the entertainment room, which is where you will find all the fun stuff happening in the pub.There is two entrances to this room, one at the top and one at the bottom.

In another corner of the pub there is a small room, that only has a few seats in it, but also has a pool table in it. So even though this pub might not look that big, it actually has five different rooms, although neither of them are large.

When you leave the main room out of the top of the pub, you are greeted by a door, this is where they have a beer garden and is the main smoking area. The only problem I found with this is that you have very steep stairs to walk down, and I am really surprised that there has been no accidents there yet, as I did not feel very safe walking down them.

The staff

The staff in here are great, I did used to know the old landlord, but he went to another pub, but he used to be all for the customers, well actually he was more like a customer, always on the other side of the bar. The pub is still great even through he has left. They have some great staff who always try to have a laugh and a banter with you. I even got one of the staff playing pool with me one quiet night.

They do have two bars so usually have a few staff on and do try to serve you as quickly as possible, and you can go to either bar as one may be quieter than the other.

The prices

I have only ever been here on a Thursday night and it was only £1.50 for all drinks which included pints, shorts shots anything you wanted. Lets say I never walked out sober it was that cheap loll.

Entertainment

Every time I have been in they have had a live band playing, granted I will say that not every night is a good night, as there is some bands that I have not liked. Even so I have usually still had a decent night, with the right company. The pub do have different kind of musicians playing, from blues to rock. So they do a mixture for people on different weeks.

Toilets

The toilets have 2 cubicles in and I have never yet had to queue up which is shocking for how busy I have seen it. The toilets have always been clean and nice smelling, and is always well stocked up with everything you need. The toilets must be nice anyway, as I have fallen asleep in them before loll. I can not complain at all about these apart from maybe they could have more cubicles.

Suitable for wheelchairs

No they have steps to get into the pub and there are no disabled toilets, and there would not be enough room to move a wheelchair around.

My overall opinion

I have always had a decent night in here, even when I have not thought that much to the bands that have been playing. I can not fault the pub though on if I do not like a band, as something I do not like others may like. I have always had a good night out either way.

The only thing is that it is mainly a student pub, as it is not far from the university. I mean they do always behave and they are not rowdy, but I just felt quite old when I was in there loll.

I would recommend this pub to anyone its a good night out and very cheap too.
