The experience of staying at this hotel is one you want to repeat again and again. We have just visited for the third time.
Kay and Michael, the hotel owners, are lovely people, and nothing is ever too much trouble for them. They took a great deal of interest in our holiday - the places we were intending to visit, how we were getting there, and the attractions we might see. They provided details of York's park and ride, bus routes and timetables, and maps of the area. All the staff at the George are friendly; the lady who served breakfast even took the trouble to remember our usual order.
We have stayed in the main hotel on two occasions and once in the annex to the hotel. On all three visits, the rooms have been of a high standard, well kept, clean, warm and surprisingly spacious. The beds always offer a very good night's sleep. I would recommend you book via the George's website, which has very good "internet deals", right up to day before you travel.
The food at the George is exceptional. I really can't do it justice in words alone, as it does have to be sampled. You must try the roast beef and Yorkshire pudding with seasonal vegatables, followed by sticky toffee pudding for dessert. All meals at the George offer large portions, at very reasonable prices.
Easingwold is a lovely, quiet, village. It is about 11 miles outside of York city centre itself, so it may not be the ideal location for people without their own transport. However, this suits us and, we find both Easingwold and the George the ideal base for exploring Yorkshire.
Let me look at my diary, when can I fit in another trip?
