Advantages: beautiful hotel, given a room with a terrace Disadvantages: Out of season there isnt a huge amount to do
...flight; facing the main entrance was a lovely stained glass window, I've included a picture of this at the bottom of the review.
I had phoned ahead to the hotel as we needed directions coming in through Montrose - they were more than helpful and pleasant and gave us the information that we required. Upon arriving at the hotel, the girl on the reception chatted away with us and we all had a chuckle together. She must have taken a shine to us because when she handed us the room key she told us she had given us a "special room" - Intriguing!
~~~~Rooms~~~~
There are twenty five rooms within The Links, all with different themes, names and décor. Our "special room" turned out to be one of the rooms with little private terraces attached. The terrace was great; it had a table and chairs and came in very useful in this non smoking room...
Advantages: Full facilities, large comfortable rooms, full breakfast! great service Disadvantages: Expensive?
...The Burnham Beeches Corus Hotel is a traditional Georgian house, situated on Grove Road, Burnham, Buckinghamshire, SL1 8DP, on 10 acres of landscaped gardens. It is 12km to city centre, 24km to London Heathrow, 80km to London Gatwick, and 4km to the nearest station (Burnham). I happened to spend a night here in February prior to an assessment centre with Mars, and found it such a lovely experience.
+ The room that I stayed in was a double room: very large and comfortably decorated, with full facilities such as:
Ensuite (all rooms have ensuite)
Television (including satellite)
Radio
Direct dial phone
Hairdryer
Trouser press
Automatic wake-up call
Voltage 240v
Kettle
+ It was much larger than the average Travel Lodge or Holiday Inn, and more traditionally decorated - which can be a good or bad thing for some...
Advantages: Fantastic experience, excellent service and large room Disadvantages: Can't think of any!
...I took my husband on a surprise trip to Dublin for his 30th birthday on 3 June 2006. As we were just staying for 1 night, I splashed out and booked the 5 star Merrion Hotel. I had considered the more famous and modern Clarence Hotel , perhaps in the hope of bumping into one of U2, but settled for the Merrion as its Georgian look and gourmet food was more my husband's style.
We were certainly not disappointed! The service was fantastic. I don't ever remember seeing my luggage - it just kept appearing in my room or reception or in the taxi. My husband's shirt was pressed and hung back in the cupboard within an hour of our request and the lady on recption did not laugh when I asked for the News of the World as my Sunday paper (can't help it if I need my X Factor gossip!) . All the staff were extremely pleasant and even the poor lad who...
