The Griffin Inn is a lovely little inn (well not so little when you get inside) located on the Coventry Road in Nuneaton.

Advantages: Good family friendly pub with a great atmosphere and great food. Disadvantages: None
...hairdresser.
At the time I had mentioned that I was going for a meal at Griffhouse that evening and she asked if it was ‘the one near the roundabout or the little pub further down the road’. News to me because at the time I only knew the Griffhouse (which is a beefeater establishment).
So it wasn’t until a couple of weeks later that my partner and I were out and about looking for somewhere new to have a bite to eat, that ... ...search of the Griffin Inn.
Fortunately we didn’t have to go too far as it was literally a 5min drive down the road from the Griffhouse.

I learnt of this pub through a conversation with my hairdresser.

There is ample car parking and the spaces are easy to get in and out of, which is great if you take Grandma along and she needs room to maneuver herself out of the car!
Outside there is a lovely beer garden which overlooks the countryside and you can be forgiven for thinking you are somewhere other than Nuneaton.
The pub also caters for the smokers amongst us with ample tables to the rear/side of the pub covered with large umbrellas and ample ash trays so no excuse for throwing ‘butts’ on the floor. I don’t smoke, but if I did then I would be more than happy with this arrangement.
There is plenty of lighting outside set in amongst the many trees and shrubs and all in all it's very pleasing on the eye before you even enter the pub.
Once inside we were met by, who I can only assume was the landlord, who immediately asked us how many were eating and then quickly sorted out a table for us.
The pub seems to cater in the main for food (which we were glad about as that’s what we wanted). It’s not your darts and dominoes kind of place, so don't go if you just wanted a drinking session.
That said if you do just want to go for a drink and chat with friends there is a nice snug area just passed the bar with comfy sofas, but it is quite small so if that’s full, there’s nowhere else to go really.
Any we were seated at our table, which was very nice as it was in the window overlooking the greenery and fields to the back of the pub.
The menu offered a good selection of food (vegetarians catered for) and reasonable enough prices.
When the food arrived I am pleased to say that the portions were very generous indeed, another plus in my book.
Now when I say this, you might get the wrong impression of the little pub…they do the buy a main meal get one free offer. I know you are probably now thinking of rowdy beefeaters with lots of kids running around, but this I assure you is not the case.
Although the food offer is excellent, this place manages to have a more ‘classy’ feel to it. I think its because of the décor and its surroundings. For me personally I felt like I was in another town and I must admit I liked that part it.
You can talk to people on your table without thinking that everyone in the place can hear you. Everyone was busy in their own social circles enjoying themselves and paying no attention to what people were saying at other table. I’ve been to places where you daren’t talk because everyone can hear you and its not nice. This I am pleased to say is not one of those places.
The waitress was lovely and was efficient and helpful. Once seated she brought additional drinks to our table when we required them and did this in an un-intrusive manner (we tipped her…she was worth it).
The food was of a high quality (I had the sirloin steak with Diane sauce ) and presented well.
On the bar front the Griffin Inn serves a good range of lagers/beers and real ales together with the normal soft drinks, spirits etc.
It’s a family friendly pub (because its an eatery in the main I guess) so you won’t have trouble popping in with the children.
My Opinion
Lovely little pub/inn, great atmosphere, lovely food, friendly staff – thumbs up from me.
