I visited the Grosvenor Pulford in September 2007 for a quiet weekend away with my girlfriend. We had a great time here and I would definitely recommend it to others seeking a quiet getaway. It is situated between Chester and Wrexham and is very easy ti find. We wanted to go to Chester and so I would firstly say that if you do not have a car then this could prove difficult as it is not in the centre of Chester and I can't say I saw a lot of buses going past. Firstly the room: Although my first impression was that it was small, it was in fact a fine size for us. There was a TV, albeit with not many channels. The bathroom was nice, clean and well stocked. The bed was very comfortable and the velvet curtains were a touch of class! We used the gymnasium and went for a swim and a jacuzzi and again I was impressed with the facilities and the cleanliness...my girlfriend liked the brand of shampoo they provided although the name escapes me! We ate in both Ciro's Brasserie and Nelsons Bar. In Ciro's we went for the carvery on a sunday which was good value and excellent food. I even asked for something not on the menu and the waitress was only too happy to accomodate. Nelson's was standard bar food but the surroundings were lovely, we ate pub lunch in front of the fire which was a nice touch. Breakfast was also exactly what we wanted, a good selection of full english (beans/hash browns/sausages/bacon/mushrooms) and continental croissants and yoghurts. Plus it was all eat-as-much-as-you-like and help yourself which was excellent as the foods were constantly restocked. Reception was very helpful, an iron was at my door in minutes when I requested it, they also ordered me a cab when asked and gave good directions when I wanted to head out somewhere. The hotel is set in beautifully maintained gardens and there was a lovely pond full of fish! I would definitely recommend the Grosvenor Pulford although I will say shop around as there are vastly different rates quoted by different sites and it is possible to get a bargain. I went through ebookers and got an excellent rate for 3 nights - I paid just over £200 (I believe it was 211) total for me and my girlfriend
