Once you are seated you will be served with your complimentary poppadoms and chutney. The selection of food available is vast and always leaves you spoilt for choice. It is refreshing to see an Indian restaurant that has a good selection of wine as well as Cobra Beer 'which is specially brewed to reduce bloatedness' according to the leaflet.

Asha is located right in the City Centre on busy Bold Street. The décor is quite pleasant with several alcoves for a more intimate meal complete with Indian style wall hangings etc. The selection of food available is quite comprehensive and the quality of the food itself is pretty good. The prices are quite reasonably and the level of service offered is acceptable.

Again, you'll find some rather swish bungalows here but the rate of new building has meant that many, if not most, have been pulled down and replaced with high rise flats. Many of the aid offices are in this area, as are most of the international clubs. If you're a member or have friends who are members, you can eat pizza in the American Club, play darts in the BAGHA, or drink in the Aussie Club etc. Otherwise, forget it. Dhaka ...
Advantages: Comfy Room, Friendly Service, Some Good Restaurants Disadvantages: Service Too Friendly!
at the queue behind me as I left them behind and bypassed the Customs check too.
I later found out that the Sheraton run an airport lounge, so they always have people there at the airport. This would be an advantage for the first time person, or anyone who needs a bit of a helping hand,
Once through the airport I was placed in a car and whisked, slowly, through the busy streets of Dhaka, past the beggars tapping on the car windows, until we got to the hotel.
The Sheraton is located in the south of the city in an area that used to be the commercial heart of Dhaka. However over the recent years, the business has moved north into an area called Gulshan, leaving the Sheraton somewhat isolated in something of a "has been" area. However, Gulshan is barely 10 minutes away, so the location is still good.
As the car pulled into the drive, my ...
