Glorious Gulshan

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

The Gulshan has recently been voted 'The best Indian Restaurant in the North' by the Good Curry Guide and this is an accolade not to be sniffed at. The décor in the Gulshan is to be seen to be believed. Opulent ox blood leather Chesterfield seats adorn the lounge area and a solid oak bar waits to serve you with the finest Brandies available while you wait for your table.

Once you are seated you will be served with your complimentary ...
...to reduce bloatedness' according to the leaflet.

The Gulshan really is a special experience and will cater for everyone's taste. If you are a lover of Indian food then you must pay a visit to the Gulshan. It will provide you with an unrivalled eating experience and then have you coming back for more.

Fancy a Curry?

Advantages:
Disadvantages:

Asha is located right in the City Centre on busy Bold Street. The décor is quite pleasant with several alcoves for a more intimate meal complete with Indian style wall hangings etc. The selection of food available is quite comprehensive and the quality of the food itself is pretty good. The prices are quite reasonably and the level of service offered is acceptable. Be warned though that after midnight this restaurant will quickly fill up with inebriated clubbers after having enjoyed the excess of a night on the beer. If this doesn't bother you then it can be quite entertaining, otherwise steer clear. This is definitely one of the best Indian Restaurants in the City Centre although real curry connoisseurs should consider the trip out to The Gulshan which has recently been voted 'Best Indian Restaurant in the North'. ...

New Dhaka Daze

Advantages: Convenient if you happen to work there.
Disadvantages: Er, there's just not much there.

is the modern diplomatic enclave, where most of the Embassies and High Commissions are situated, alongside grand bunglows, all enclosed behind high walls. Unless you work there or are a member of the British High Commission Club, there is nothing for you here. Gulshan Lake, which is so long and narrow a newcomer would be forgiven for thinking it's a river, separates Baridhara from Gulshan, a slightly newer area. Again, you'll find some rather swish bungalows here but the rate of new building has meant that many, if not most, have been pulled down and replaced with high rise flats. Many of the aid offices are in this area, as are most of the international clubs. If you're a member or have friends who are members, you can eat pizza in the American Club, play darts in the BAGHA, or drink in the Aussie Club etc. Otherwise, forget it. Dhaka ...

Review of Dhaka (Bangladesh)

Stir Your Tea? Fondle Your Genitals?

Advantages: Comfy Room, Friendly Service, Some Good Restaurants
Disadvantages: Service Too Friendly!

at the queue behind me as I left them behind and bypassed the Customs check too. I later found out that the Sheraton run an airport lounge, so they always have people there at the airport. This would be an advantage for the first time person, or anyone who needs a bit of a helping hand, Once through the airport I was placed in a car and whisked, slowly, through the busy streets of Dhaka, past the beggars tapping on the car windows, until we got to the hotel. The Sheraton is located in the south of the city in an area that used to be the commercial heart of Dhaka. However over the recent years, the business has moved north into an area called Gulshan, leaving the Sheraton somewhat isolated in something of a "has been" area. However, Gulshan is barely 10 minutes away, so the location is still good. As the car pulled into the drive, my ...
