    Advantages Advantages CBD sanctuary, leafy courtyard, live free jazz, friendly, interesting history

    The Gumnut is in a sandstone convict-built cottage in a terrific location right near Sydney's CBD, amongst the Harbour and Opera House at Circular Quay and historic precinct of The Rocks. Sitting in their leafy courtyard, you wouldn't assume that proximity as it's such a quiet sanctuary. We were there on a Friday night, the courtyard was lit up with candles and lanterns, and a live band playing gypsy jazz were in the corner. They are BYO so we had to go around the corner to get wine but corkage was free and they're in the process of getting a liquor license. They describe the food as "posh ... more
