A lovely B+B in Devon

Advantages: Convenient, friendly owners, good breakfast.
Disadvantages: A bit pricey

Last summer I spent a few days in Salcombe after my Mum had booked this place as a birthday present for me. It was my first time in Salcombe so I didn't really know what to expect, but my Mum had been going there for years so I was looking forward to discovering it. The Ria View is run by Peter & Bernice Henesey Smith. LOCATION: The Ria View is on Devon Road in Salcombe, Devon. Salcombe is a tiny town on the south coast. The roads to get there are quite windy so take care. Ria View Devon Road Salcombe Devon TQ8 8HQ (0044) (0)1548 842965 PRICES: Prices for a double room at the Ria View start at £62 per night and go up to £84 per night. This includes breakfast. PARKING: The parking at the B+B itself is very limited. We managed to get mine in but there is room for 3 cars and they can only be small cars ...

Review of Ria View B&B, Devon

A holly hedge, ouch

Advantages: Good for birds and butterflies .
Disadvantages: Prickly

Holly - Ilex I have seen many Holly hedges and we have a holly mixed in with our hedge, we did not plant it but I think its seed dropped from a bird as it sat in the bush next to it. Holly is an evergreen tree. A holly is easy to identify as it has shiny prickly leaves with sharp points. Actually there is one holly that does not have points on its leaves .The leaves of the holly is green and some are variegated with cream. The female holly produces red berries that are used at Christmas for decoration. To get holly berries there must be a male tree nearby to pollinate the female to produce berries. Some hollies have yellow berries. If you are buying holly at the garden centre the sex should be on the label. Holly is a good tree to make a hedge from as it makes a thick hedge; it is prickly so is good for a border hedge where ...

Review of Hollies

Hollies Hotel standards sink to all time low!!!!!

Advantages: good location to Winer Garden, and Tower and shops.
Disadvantages: badly run hotel, food uneatable for most of the time.

I stayed at this hotel on the 15th of September, please, please do not stay at this hotel the place is a dump. The Hollies hotel in Albert road used to be a very nice hotel, good rooms good food, but that was last year,it is under new ownership, the hotel next door has bought this hotel the new owners which also own the Georgain hotel have ruined a perfectly good hotel,My holiday with the new owners was not great. All of my meals that I had were terrible, the food was either over cooked or burnt, under cooked,or cold and even raw.The cups and saucers, cutlery, suger bowls, milk jugs had not been washed and were dirty. When I did have something to eat, there wasn't much of a choice of menus, they were very mean with the portions of food, the service was very slow I was waiting 20 minutes before anyone served me with my first meal, there wasn't enough ...
