My partner and I went to the John Gilbert for a pre booked lunch on Christmas Day, which we had been looking forward to for ages.
The whole experience was a total nightmare......we were booked on the second sitting of the day at 5pm. We arrived at 4.30 for drinks first only to find one person serving behind the bar trying to serve about 30 people from the previous sitting; we were stood waiting to be served for about half an hour. There was no-one to greet you at the door and check that you were actually booked in to eat as the place was shut to the public for the day. After we finally got our drinks we had to ask where our table was. We ordered a bottle of wine from the bar as no-one approached our table and asked it we wanted to order drinks, then we sat waiting for our starter to be served; we waited and waited, all the time hearing mutterings that the chef had gone AWOL. No one seemed to be getting served and the staff were going up to some tables offering an explanation of what was happening; no-one spoke to our table. We had to speak to fellow would be diners as to what was going on - there was no chef and the managment were not trained to deal with the delivery of food!!!! Ended up leaving after a 2 hour wait with no food. Spoiled the whole day - extremly poor.

Why do these places take the bookings, without being certain they have the Resources avialable. I would certainly take them thru the Low Claims Court for compo for a spoiled day. Regards Steve.
