I was met from Bangkok airport (jan 03) by a very well educated representive from the hotel, he carried my bags to the car and on the way to the hotel informed me of the various attractions I could visit during my week stay in Bangkok, (I was travelling alone for the first time!) when we arrived at the hotel my first impression was wow, and how much value i was getting for my money. (around £60 per night) the place was spotless, with a concierge who told a younger member of staff to carry my bags up for me after the trouble free check-in, my room was quite high up in the hotel, but the elevator seemed quite fast at arriving at the floor. the corridors were also spotless and the room was very large, with double wardrobe, minibar/fridge, television, telephone, hair dryer in the bathroom along with the usual complimentary shampoos and sew-kit etc. the only problem i had was there was no window to look out of, just a very long mirror, which had curtains drawn over it. it would have been quite nice to see over Bangkok at such a height, but it wasn't worth complaining about. the hotel has a couple of bars one of which is very classy and elegant. Myself I enjoyed the comical surroundings of the 'London Inn' further down the road, complete with original pint jars to drink out of. and the Irish bar down the road serves a very good lunch, in a 50's style diner. all in all a very good hotel, and i would definately stay there again if i found myself in Bangkok.
Advantages: Location Disadvantages: I can't think of any
I stayed in this hotel the first time I ever visited Bangkok. I booked a package holiday with Thomas Cook and they recommended the Landmark Hotel - I was not disappointed! From the moment I entered the grand lobbey area, staff made me feel welcome. I was offered a welcome drink and when we checked in was given a free room upgrade on a higher floor.
The room itself was perfect. It was large, clean and had excellent views over the city and hotel pool.
... ...If you don't fancy leaving the hotel, there are a number of restaurants to choose from. The Thai restaurant was particuly good, There is also a bakery/ coffee shop which sells very nice ice cream and cakes if you were looking to treat yourself.
The hotel is in a fantastic location, with Nana skytrain station just a few minute walk away. Right outside the hotel are a number of shops, restaurants, bars and in the early evening street stalls selling ...

Advantages: Excellent value for money, near sky train. Disadvantages: cant think of any
...exceptionally clean and tidy. the rooms are fairly spacious, though there is not much of a view on the lower levels as you have many tower blocks around the hotel. the restaurant on the 35th? floor is very good and its not often you get three people to wait on you is it? Whilst in the restaurant (where you get a fabulous view of Bangkok) there was a magnificent electric storm going on around the city. The lift is extremely quick and smooth. The Hotel ...

Advantages: A beautiful Temple worth seeing Disadvantages: None
Wat Arun, Temple of the Dawn, is one of the best known landmarks and one of the most published images of Bangkok. It is open every day from 8.30am to 5.30pm. Because of its location, its easier to get there by river than by any other means.
I have heard lots of times that Wat Arun does not deserve mention when talking about the best place in Bangkok. But I have personally loved its sight. Its called by some as the "china plate temple" . The silhouette is an awesome sight when you travel on the river and I always get the feeling that the temple is different in subtle ways than the other temples here. The best views and photos of Wat Arun are in the evening with the sun setting behind it. ...
Advantages: Wow everything and anything for sale and to do Disadvantages: very very very bad traffic
to say ,dont worry unduly as they are mostly concentrated around a couple of areas so are easily avoided.
The temples are in short supply, a must is the grand palace, and temple of the emrald budda.
Shopping is unforgetable, the same as food if you got the money its for sale, from the markets of Patpong and Sukhumvit to the weekend market at Chatachuk, there is something for everyone. Fake Gucci, Prada etc right next door to big shopping malls with the real deal at 10 times the price.
Tailored clothes are also big business in Bangkok especially along Sukhumvit, watch out for shisters, there are plenty that promise evrything in 24 hours, dont bother, i personally use a tailors called Milan fashion very near the Landmark hotel on the other side of the road.
I could go on for hours possibly days about Bangkok and unless you ...
