The Leadmill, Sheffield

With Sheffield being the 5th largest city in the country or so you can probably imagine that when it comes to nightlife there is a huge range of different places to go. Most of the clubs that were around when I was an 18 year old (I am now 35) have disappeared and there is a whole number of large trendy venues that I have neither visited nor have no desire to do so. The Leadmill nightclub is one of the few places that was around all those years ago and is still going strong today. Well, Did you know i used to work here? (that doesn't influence my opinion at all!) Now the Leadmill is great, like most clubs in sheffield its not exactly 'in the center of town' as in a ideal world it would be near West/Division Street with all the other bars. but its not. I absolutely do not recommend the Leadmill as a place to go to on a night out. The experience i had was appalling. On arriving (11.30pm) the toilets were untidy and unpleasant to use. Drinks had been spilt near me and my friends. When i notified a member of staff i was told to clean it up myself with toilet roll!!! I only manged to stay a couple of hours...mainly because a member of the security team picked on me for leaving my coat on the chair??!!! Confused by this and i still am!! As soon as you enter you will think "this looks like my old school gym" well it did mine anyway. Fairly cheap to get in, round about £4 and the drinks are cheap, like bottles for a quid :) There are two rooms, well 3 kind of, the first one as you enter plays lots of chart stuff and classics then the room to the right play 90's dance and the odd recent tune. The other room, its kind of a chill out area but its a little small and does chill you out as it was freezing, on a good note they have a couple of playstation 2's to kill the time if you arent up to shakin your booty on the dancefloor and ... more
