Newmillerdam CountryPark lies adjacent to the main A61 Barnsley to Wakefield road in West Yorkshire. I have driven past here many times and I have always made a mental note to pay it a visit but it was only very recently that I finally got the chance to stop and have a look around.
The countrypark is located approximately 5 kilometres south of Wakefield and covers an area of 237 acres. It consists of mixed broadleaf woodland centred around a large lake. When I visited here in early November the trees were lovely shades of golden brown. There is a large car park (pay and display) and a footpath goes all of the way around the lake. There are smaller footpaths that extend into the woodland and these are all popular with walkers, cyclists and horse riders.

friends in the area before taking a detour off to Cheshire Oaks outlet centre in Ellesmere Port. Did some great retail therapy, ate out more than we should have and had a lot of fun.
So maybe your idea of fun isn't a weekend in Manchester in February - but please open your mind and think again. There are a lot of good reasons to consider a weekend at the Worsley Park.
1. The hotel is very nice - a mix of posh plush and country-style old England - excellent public rooms, beautiful guest rooms, fantastic gym and swimming pool, 18 hole golf course, spa facilities and beautiful grounds

The grounds are extremely well kept and looked after and provide a tranquillity of the English countryside away from the hustle and bustle of 'real life'.
The hotel also has a countryclub next to it. It has its own separate rooms but is open to guests of the hotel also.
It has its own lounge, which also does lunch, and provides facilities such as pedicures, manicures, indian head massages, massages, table tennis, a swimming pool and gym and clubs for the golf course and range
This is a lovely countryclub and we spent the sunday just relaxing in the lounge, playing golf and my fiancee had a manicure/pedicure which she loved!!!
