I went to see the Lion King at the Lyceum last week 3rd January 2008. It was an amazing experience and I would recommend it as a musical to watch for all people and ages.

The story is the same as the film with couple of extra songs and lines added in. A true fan of the films can still say all the lines along with the musical.

The performance was amazing with the performers using their costumes and props to their advantage. The effect of getting so many animals on stage with few cast members was amazing. The music is live and you can see the percussionsection in the boxes at the side of the stage. The musical made you feel involved as the performers came through the audiance and also stood in the boxes. It is especially noticiable at the start of the second act.

I have to say at the time I went the lady playing Rafiki was very good her name wasBrown Lindiwe Mkhize. However the whole cast was superb.

The tickets I purchased were £35.00 in the grand circle. I purchased them from ticket master. I would recommend sitting below the grand circle though as some of the effects are best seen from lower down such as the stampede.

There is planty of accomodation in the area if you plan to stay over, I stayed at the radisson near warren st tube station so we had good access to the tube network. Transport links to London and in london are very good. I travelled to London from Leeds using cheap singles booked in advance using virgin. Getting to the venue was easy by the tube you can get off at 3 different stations near the theatre and find somewhere to eat food before hand very easily. The three stations are Leicester Square, Covent Garden and Charring Cross. There are restaurants next to the theatre however we ate close to the theatre along a side street leading to covent gardens.

Overall an enjoyable night out which I highly recommend
