Heligan - Heaven on Earth

Advantages: Absolutely captivating
Disadvantages: Many areas lack disabled access

...sounds. Its restoration was the subject of several television programs and books. From being quite literally 'lost', Heligan was rediscovered and has been restored to its former glory with both passion and expertise.

Having visited the Eden Project the day before, and having been told by a friend that Heligan far surpassed the former I thought I was well prepared for our day trip. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
The Lost Gardens ...
...to speak, unable to verbalise the sheer emotion that such a remarkable place can arouse.

Let me take you on a journey…

Once past the ticket office, we’re faced with a choice – to the Northern Gardens, or to the Jungle and Lost Valley? We follow the Woodland Walk towards the Jungle. The path winds gently through the trees, a wonderfully peaceful area of native planting and rural beauty which serves a practical purpose ... more

CORNWALL - where holidays run at a different pace!

Advantages: not so far to travel,no airport delays, more enviromental to travel less distance
Disadvantages: Motorway traffic,Weather ( if you are unlucky)

into the roadways, a swimming pool, tennis court, and lush toilets and showers(check their website - www.tregarton.co.uk) near Mevagissey, it is 2miles from the Lost Gardens of Heligan and not far from the Eden Project, there are quite a few National trust places to visit within 20 miles too (like Lanhydrock, Antony, Cothele, which are all houses or gardens like Glendurgan which has its own beach,or Trellissick and also lots of coastline and beaches for walking sitting or simply admiring ). The owners have various rates for different times of the year and also offer deals when staying for more than 1 week, our family holiday cost just £165 for 8 nights for 5 people plus the cost of travelling and food. Camping or Caravanning is getting more popular but it isn't for everyone, so try the other types of accomodation and givr the county a try ...

My Pentewan Experience.

Advantages: Beautiful Location, Great Facilities, Great Entertainment.
Disadvantages: None!

Pentewan Sands is a Holiday Park which is situated in a beautiful location near to Pentewan Village, The Lost Gardens of Heligan, and Mevagissey. *~* Arrival and Accomodation *~* Upon arrival you will need to go into the reception with all of the relevant booking confirmation and paperwork. The staff will book you in. If you arrive at night, there is a holding area opposite the site on the right hand side, which is available for overnight parking. If staying in your own caravan/tent, you will be able to get straight onto your pitch. However, if you are staying in one of the static caravans of the log cabins - you will probably not be able to get into your accomodation until around 2.30 - 3.00, due to the cleaners (sometimes we have been lucky and it's been earlier, but more often than not these are the times) - don't despair though ...

Review of Pentewan Sands Holiday Park

A good day out

Advantages: A complete one-off.....beautiful
Disadvantages: A little bit pricey, crowded

I went to the Eden Project in June 2006, i arrived early but still had to queue for the shuttle bus to the gatehouse. The queue was quite long but the staff bought sweets up a down the line to keep everyone happy. It is quite expensive to get it..especially if you compare it to the Lost Gardens of Heligan, and there is far more to see there than at Eden. Nevertheless Eden is a spectacle and should be visited just for that first glimpse of the domes your get as you wizz past on the (eco-friendly) bus! The domes were wonderful, it a little hot (they don't call it the Humid Tropics Biome for nothing!!) Some of the plants were very unusual and it was funny seeing everyday things (cocoa, chewing gum, cola) growing on trees so to speak! It was very informative in a easy to understand way, but without it making you feel as if you were in ...
