If you think that Disney World in Florida is just for children then you, like I did have the wrong idea.
When we were going to visit friends in Florida we were going to go to Disney World because well you dont go to Florida and not go to Disney do you.
The first thing that I had wrong was that Disney World was just one big place. In reality it is 4. Disney World consists of Magic Kingdom, Epcot, Disneys Animal Kingdom and Disney MGM Studios. Believe me you can as we did, spend a whole day easily at either one of these places and still want more time seeing everything.
It would be impossible to see all four in one day.
So in this ciao I will tell
you all about Magic Kingdom without I hope spoiling too many of the surprises.
Magic Kingdom is easy to reach. Everything is so well signed. You have to pay to go into the carpark about $5 about £3. Dont forget to remember where you park.
From the car park you follow the signs to the entrance. Here you are given the choice of paying for a days ticket or save a bit of money and pay for 2 days or more. We paid $99 each for two days and although you might think that that is a lot of money it is not compared with what you get. In fact I would say you get more than your pennies worth. You can even buy a ticket called a fast track which allows you to byepass the waiting queues and get in that bit quicker although I must admit we didnt bother with this as for everything we went on and saw and we saw the lot, you didnt have to wait that long and the movement forward was very well organised and fast flowing and you mustnt forget well this is florida and so you are not queing in the rain!
It is worth picking up their free guidemap and going to the places in some kind of order. This saves time toing and froing and a lot of footwork.
Magic Kingdom is broken down into Liberty Square, Fantasyland, Frontierland, Adventureland, Main Street, USA, Tomorrowland , Mickeys Toontown Fair and lastly dont forget shopping in each of these.
Once you are in Magic Kingdom you dont have to keep putting your hands in your pockets as all the rides are free and so is everything else except shopping of course.
Some of the attractions we enjoyed best were: The Liberty Square Riverboat here you go on a steam powered paddle wheeler and all along the river are attractions to see and learn about. Its a small World - children from all different countries serenade you while you pass by in a boat. Becareful of the "Its a small world" song they sing. Believe me you will still be humming it the next day!
See dancing and singing in the street, The Hall of Presidents, haunted mansion, and of course Mickey mouse, Cinderella and all the others in the homes, etc.
As you walk around you will see all the Characters and they will willingly have their photograph taken with you, whatever your age, and sign your autograph book. Not got an Autograph book? They are on sale in the shops and here again worth having as it is lovely to keep. Also no extra charge for the autographing twhich I think a lot of places oved here would make extra money on.
Of course I have mentioned just a very very small few of the things going on here and hope that I have given you a "I want to go" feeling.
A couple of tips we picked up are that you do need good walking shoes. Carry as little as possible with you. You can hire pushchairs cheaply so dont worry if you havent got one. There are pushchair parks where you park your pushchairs and we noticed that people left items on them and the honesty of people was great.
Carry some water with you though.
This is a no smoking area but they do have designated smoking zones. You are not permitted to smoke anywhere outside these zones and I am not just talking about indoors and undercover this is everywhere.
The meals are very g ood, fast service and you dont pay over the odds for them but you certainly get as much as you can eat. Dont forget to take your camera with plenty of film if it isnt a digital one also plenty of battery if you take your video camera. If you dont have a camera or have forgotten it dont worry as there are still a few places at Magic Kingdom that takes your photo and you can collect them in an hour. You can even have a photograph taken and email it home. It is a good idea to get to Disney Kingdom very early and be prepared to make a long day of it because at 8pm there is a spectacular firework display every night. This display is like nothing I have ever seen before.
Although this is Florida it does rain a lot in the summer very heavily. We went in October and the temperature was in the high 70s and every day was sunny and this is apparently the best time to go.
Since we went in October I have become a Grandmother and cannot wait to take my Granddaughter there when she is older but as said before you can go whatever age and enjoy it tremendously
I hope this has been of very good use to everyone. And if you go I know you will have a wonderful unforgetable time.
It really is magic. Every time you go!
