The Majestic, London

The Majestic, London

... The room we were allocated was directly opposite the very noisy lift and as we entered we were hit by a musty, unaired smell. The very compact room contained two beds, a table and a stool along with a portable TV and an ancient telephone. According to the Laterooms website (which had pictures) ... Read review

Majestic, My A**e!!

Advantages: we were only there one night
Disadvantages: everything

...had a fantastic experience with the flight, the train and the attractions visited, unfortunately we did not have a fantastic experience at the hotel we had booked.

We booked the Majestic Hotel in South Kensington through laterooms.com. We booked it for its central location. Hotels wishing to fill their empty rooms use this company by considerably reducing their room rates. We thought we’d bagged a bargain as we reserved a twin room ...
...helpful staff (as advertised on the website). Maybe I expected too much from this hotel.

It’s easy enough to find, five minutes from Gloucester Road tube station along Cromwell Road. As we approached it, we noticed it had a general air of dilapidation about it enhanced by the many supermarket trolleys in its front garden area. We entered the front doors into a dark dismal reception area where we met a young woman who I assume was the ... more

Some well deserved luxury!

Advantages: Feeling like a VIP
Disadvantages: Prices can be tough on ordinary people like me!

for that company I organized 3 of the parties and have to confess that their management is absolutely delightful and they try to please you in every way and try to accommodate all sorts of requests. Booking in advance is essential, especially if you have a specific date in mind. In relation to costs I can tell you that an average per head could have been around £120 per person and that excluding wines and champagne. THE CHRISTMAS PARTY EXPERIENCE ********** The evening was absolutely magical, all the ladies had their hair up and wore their brand new ballgown or evening dress? you would be very posh if you arrived in a black cab, but some like me had to make their way ,unlike Cinderellla, in the London underground totally dressed up and under the eyes of curious passengers. The entrance is not as majestic as you would expect but as soon ...

Streets still paved with gold

Advantages: The most enchanting, thrilling city I've ever visited
Disadvantages: Can get expensive

I am really disappointed that the old view of the streets paved with gold has gone out of fashion. We all see it so often on the TV, and we see the streets, most of us will have walked on them at some point, and we know for a fact that they're not made of gold. But as a metaphor it's as relevant as it's ever been, possibly more so as we can only see it as a metaphor. I was born in 'the heavily industrialised West Riding' of Yorkshire. It's a wonderful place, rolling hills, valleys that seem to appear from nowhere and majestic, towering, terrifying mills in every city. I love it to bits, but whenever I go to London I want to live there, more than any other city I've ever visited. It was a long time before I visited London for the first time. I went with school when I was about 13, then again with my family when I was 14 or 15 ...

7 stories of splendour

Advantages: free, very good and intresting
Disadvantages: expensive souvenrs

You wanna read the news? If so then get your backside down to the National Museum of Photography Film and Television! Its recently been done up and is well improved on what it was before with a brand new glass front put on it and its all been jigged about to make it that bit easier to get around. Whilst being educational and informative, its still interesting and fun with something for everyone from little kids to older people. It is part of the London Science Museum and is rightfully placed at the top of town in full view of everywhere, even above the majestic town hall! Whilst there you can learn all about where photography film and TV came from, how they were improved and changed over time and what other mediums have been used but phased out. You can also have a go on one of the many "hands on" exhibitions such as being the camera ...
