De Vere Milton Hill House -Do Not Believe What You May Read!

Advantages: Well situated, Affordable, Good Facilities, Nicely Decorated
Disadvantages: We did not eat in the hotel so I cannot comment on that

connection which is available in every room. The bathroom was a good size and I loved the decoration in there, it was very stylish and modern. The walls and floor were decorated with black mosaic style tiles and there was the usual WC, basin and bath with a shower overhead, it very much had the feel of a wet room. For some reason there was a gigantic silver clock on the wall behind the toilet, no idea why but it seems this is quite normal for this chain of hotels as I had read other people saying they had them in their rooms too. There were plenty of white fluffy towels provided in a variety of sizes and a heated towel rail which unfortunately didn?t appear to be working although maybe I just managed to oversee the switch to turn it on. There was a small cupboard just inside the entrance door to the room which houses an ironing board ...

Review of Milton Hill House Conference & Training Centre, Abingdon

A great conference venue but not ideal as a hotel

Advantages: Good rooms, well organised conference facilities
Disadvantages: If you aren't there for a conference, you could feel very 'left out'.

of the rooms. I parked up and headed for reception which is located in the old building where the staff pointed me in the direction of the conference rooms. Passing out of the old and into the new building, I came to the restaurant, a large coffee and tea zone and then to the conference rooms. Further along the corridor was the bar and the entrance to the swimming pool and after that the bedrooms. Ettington Chase really is much more of a conference venue rather than a hotel. I think that if you booked this and weren't there for a seminar or a wedding or similar event you would possibly feel a bit cut off and isolated. I've read other reviews where guests have complained of being the only people at the Chase who weren't booked in with a large group and they clearly felt a bit 'odd' about being there. Our group wasn't particularly large ...

Tankersley Manor Hotel

Advantages: Excellent Location
Disadvantages: Quite Expensive

Tankersley Manor is a place that I have been to a few times over the years and it was also the location of my work's Christmas Party at the end of last year. It is a well known Hotel and Restaurant with a good local reputation. THE BACKGROUND From the outside Tankersley Manor is quite impressive to say the least, standing in its own well maintained Gardens and Grounds and surrounded by Woodland the building itself is a rather imposing Stone built building. The Hotel as you see it today has been extensively restored but it has been built around a 17th Century Manor House that once occupied the location. THE FACILITIES Tankersley Manor has a Restaurant, a Health Club and 70 rooms all with en suite facilities. Much of the building has been restored to its original character and there are original Oak beams on the ceilings ...
