This upscale fondue restaurant is the perfect place for a romantic meal or a party.

The menu, on first inspection, is quite intimidating. If its your first visit I recommend you go for the set menu which includes a salad, cheese fondue (served with bread and sliced apples, made tableside), your choice of entree fondue and the chocolate fondue dessert (more of that later).

But be warned - arrive hungry!!

You can choose between four fondue styles in which to cook your preferred meat/seafood - beef, chicken, pork, duck, lobster, shrimp, scallops and salmon are all on offer.

Spectacular platters of your chosen meat/seafood arrive at your table with vegetables, batter and dipping sauces to accompany your culinary efforts. Your waiter then guides you through the cooking process/hygiene rules and gives you the cooking times necessary for each type of meat/seafood.

Food portions are very generous but the waiters do not rush you and come to check on drinks orders at just the right intervals.

Talking of drinks the restaurant features an extensive and very impressive wine list (which takes up half of the menu) and the cocktails are out of this world. For a celebration order one of the huge cocktails to share.

After the entrees comes the stunning dessert fondue - your choice of chocolate with the option of adding a glass of your favourite liqueur - we like dark chocolate with Grand Marnier - yum! Kids can choose a S'mores option with marshmallows and biscuits. The fondue is accompanied by pineapple, strawberries, brownie pieces, chunks of sponge cake and is absolutely delicious.

Prices are high at The Melting Pot but for a special occasion the quality of the food and drink, the service and the fun and novelty factor mean that its worth it.
