The Mill at Elstead

The Mill at Elstead is situated on the Milford road leading from the Milford junction of the A3 towards Farnham in Surrey. The pub itself is an old mill building with a long and illustrious history stretching back to the white monks of Waverley Abbey using it. A beautiful location and a stunning building with very large grounds including two riverside gardens and an impressive entrance and cobbled car park. ...suffers from flooding in the winter, the kind of flooding that means you have to close the pub because of Health and Safety issues surrounding flooded toilets. For the previous owner this was not a problem as he made a lot of money in the summer but had the common sense to treat his regulars with courtesy and respect, even insisting that a regualar's discount was introduced, so that they would come back in the winter and drink on days that the building ... A very pleasant riverside location with good family facilities but is unfortunately let down by poor food quality. I have been a frequent daytime visitor for about 18 months, I have never found the food brilliant but in recent times it has been unacceptable on two occasions. Perhaps I should have been quicker to complain on both counts, being offered free desserts on the first occasion, but on the second occasion little acknowledgement was made and there appeared to be a definate absence of professional supervision. Sadly I feel my only option is to "vote with my feet" and find an alternative venue.

Excellent country Pub, Go early as this establishment is very popular in the summer. Good Food and Excellent atmosphere. Great Selection of beers and some good wines but slightly middle of the roads. The pub is clean and tables outside are always at a premium in the summer. Great to people watch.
