The Moat House - Stoke

Advantages: Good facilities, Good food,
Disadvantages: None

We fancied a few days away and decided to visit Alton Towers, unfortunately the on-site hotel was fully booked so we looked for alternatives. After the normal review / price checking we opted for the Best Western Moat House in Stoke on Trent (it is 15 miles from Alton Towers which due to the roads works out to be 40 ins drive). We booked for 3 night at £116 per room including breakfast directly through the hotels web site. The hotel has an adequate amount secure on-site parking we went into the hotel. The nearest entrance to the car park takes you into the ground floor where the gym, bar and restaurant is located, so you need to take the lift (or stairs) to the first floor and reception. The reception area is large and well presented, with free copies of The Independent. Check in was the normal fill in some details, take a swipe ...

Review of Stoke-on-Trent Moat House, Stoke-on-Trent

Nottingham Royal Moat House

Advantages: pleasant clean environment -value for money - pool and gym
Disadvantages: parking charge at some locations - clarity of website info

Needing a hotel room for one night I trawled the internet options found via google and found the site for Moat house hotels. Two on offer in Nottingham area - Royal Moat is in city centre and very convenient. the other seem a bit of a way out of the centre. Found the website booking service to be a bit confusing, especially as there were so many diffrent price options for what seemed to be the same type of room! All were described as mini standard double and yet prices ranged from about £100 to £58. Needless to say I eventually opted for the £58 option which provided a room for 2 including full buffet breakfast. (I did check the central reservations phone line and got a response that only one room was available at a price in excess of £120 - they could not answer how it was that the website was showing lots of cheaper options) I ...

Review of Member Advice on Chain Hotels: Moat House Hotels

Chester Moat House/Crowne Plaza

Advantages: Excellent location, car park very near by, complementary use of lovely leisure facilities.
Disadvantages: Building not very attractive, must pay for car park.

hotel - there are no windows at all on one side of the building and the entrance is under a bridge. However, once you get inside, the decor is lovely and makes up for the outside. The hotel has recently had a name change from the Moat House to the Crowne Plaza due to the refurbishments which are ongoing unil May 2006. The refurbishments did not affect us at all - no noise or mess. We paid £199 for two nights (Easter bank holiday weekend) which included the room, breakfast on both mornings (buffet style with hot English breakfast, cereal, fruit, juice, croissants etc), à la carte three course dinner and a bottle of house wine on the first night and use of the leisure facilities. We also got a newspaper on our door each morning including Easter Sunday which was a nice touch. Highly recommended - I will definitely visit again. ...
