This appealing vegetarian restaurant creates delicious meals for anyone who appreciates good food. The casual cafe interior is bright and pleasant. Wooden tables and chairs fill the floor area, yet there is still ample space. Even when there is a crowd, this restaurant never seems packed. Only top quality ingredients are used at The New Delight. Free-range eggs and organic produce are used as much as possible. The array of vegetables is quite astonishing and vegetarians will certainly have found a haven. The filled baguettes and pasta dishes are particularly good choices, but the nut and hemp seed burger, in particular, may have you scheduling a return visit. There is also a modest wine list that complements the cuisine.
Advantages: Beautiful, unspoilt countryside. Captivating. Disadvantages: You won't want to come home!!!
...for two will cost about 60 Euros (£45) for a three course meal & wine.
The shops in Killarney are mainly of the tourist variety, where you can get the usual Guinness branded merchandise, Leprechauns of all shapes and guises as well as good quality knit wear and clothing. The Tourist Information Office is situated near ‘New Street’ next to the major car park & supermarket (Tesco). Most of the banks are also situated on New Street. For withdrawing money from these you will require an international debit card or a Visa/Mastercard

Advantages: Beautiful scenery, pleasant town, cheap hostel Disadvantages: Somewhat touristy
...…The likes you’ve never known, of Christmas in Killarney…” Ahh… doesn’t that remind you of sitting around the Christmas tree, opening your presents and gorging on sweets while Mum plays her old Bing Crosby records? (Or is it just me…? :)
Okay, so it wasn’t actually Christmas – closer to summertime really – when we arrived in Killarney, a charming little town in the heart of County Kerry in the south of the Republic of Ireland. Having just spent a couple of days in Dublin and Cork, Killarney was quite literally a breath of fresh air. Though still somewhat touristy, the town is surrounded by spectacularly picturesque scenery: rolling hills, vast lakes and dense forests as well as an array of interesting historical monuments.
We arrived in the early afternoon and made our...

Advantages: Quality hotel, good service and food Disadvantages: Expensive
...I've been a regular visitor to Kilarney town for a number of years and was delighted to stay in this newly built hotel on the outskirts of town. The hotel is located next to the INEC concert venue and is within a 15 minute walk to the town. The exterior of the building is impressive with a slight ski chalet look. The interior is just as impressive with acres of wood and marble abound. Hotel staff were friendly and efficent throughout my stay. The bedrooms were tastfully decorated and extremely clean. My only gripe would be the absence of tea making facilities in the rooms which is what you would expect in a 4 star hotel. I ate in the bar once and thought the food was quite good and breakfasts were equally as good. My partner available of the numerous spa treatments available and graded them as "superb"....

Erica James is quite a well known contemporary writer and 'Gardens of Delight' is her eleventh book. I have read all of her previous novels, all of which I enjoyed, and I have to say that 'Gardens of Delight' was just as good as all the others, if not... more
