There is a short 18-hole golf course, 2 indoor and 4 outdoor tennis courts, indoor and outdoor swimming pool, snooker room, table tennis, sauna, croqeut lawn, superb room service and many other facilities. It is suprising that this hotel is only rated 3 star. It should be given 5!

This hotel captures true Englishness. Whether it be afternoon tea - complimented with the fantastic selection of cakes and cream teas, or the formality of a 5 course evening meal - this hotel offers it all.

The friendliness of the staff made the stay complete - I went away feeling like royalty. Wherever I went, I was treated well - right from being handed a clean towel in the swimming pool, to being served after dinner coffee in the lounge. There is a real sense of belonging at the Palace, something I haven't experienced anywhere else.

The cost of the stay is dependant on room location and size - a room overlooking the beautiful gardens costs much more than a room overlooking the carpark (obviously).
Whether it be a short weekend stay, or a week in torquay, I would immediatly recommend this hotel to stay in. It is a pleasure to pay at the end of the stay - and I assure you, it won't be your last visit.

Quick review of The Palace Hotel, Torquay
I always remember the Palace hotel in Torquay as a castle on the top of a hill and last month I took my wife there for our anniversary. Now let me tell you, it was perfect. The tall and grand entrance was consistent throughout the complex. The rooms where modern and romantic with fantastic modern decor and all the added bonuses. The restaurant was perfect with modern and exciting dishes cooked to perfection. The Palace hotel really hit the spot when it came to facilities. I was able to enjoy golf, swimming, tennis, squash and snooker on their top quality facilities. The grounds where amazing with a romantic sea view just seconds away. Highly recommended. ...

Quick review of The Palace Hotel, Torquay
A grand old fashioned hotel with large open dining room and fireplaces, piano playing in the background and cream teas on the terrace. Completely charming. Although the rooms are in need of a referb - this is actually reflected in the price and ours was clean and offered us everything we needed within budget. Silver service in the restaurant takes you back to the good old fashioned days before the Brit's left our holiday resorts for the Costa's. The staff really do make every effort to make your stay as comfortable as possible. I know my mum and dad would love it. ...

...I have made time as the Palace hotel in Torquay, which I recently attended for a conference, was outstanding. The luxury and status of the hotel clearly shined through in both the exterior and interior appearance. The large rooms where clean, well styled and extremely practical, providing myself with a very high quality experience. After the conference, I retired to a cosy and exceptional room where I was pampered with a deluxe bed, modernised bathroom ...

The Palace Hotel is a magnificent building set on the edge of the Torquay seafront. I went the stay there as part of a company team building weekend and it was fantastic. The ground and facilities, not to mention the bar, helped us to have a really fun filled time. We went round their golf course, play tennis and went swimming most days. Sadly we had to have one or two conferences during the few days but everything else about the hotel made up for ...

Torquays cultural sites include Torre abbey, The Palace Theatre and Babbacombe model village.
If you want to look at a more old fashioned and historical area, check out brixham which has World War II bunkers overlooking the coastline in preparation for any NAZI invasion. Brixham little harbour holds a replica of the Golden Hind (of Sir Francis Drake).
In the general area around Torbay you can also have excellent family days out at River Dart country park and Woodlands fun park.
All along Torbays seafront you can find some excellent fish and chips. There are plenty of old pubs and a wide selction of Restaurants and Hotels. For a hotel paignton seafront is a nice spot and I would reccomend the Palacehotel or the Redcliffe hotel.
