I was asked in May 2005 what I would like to see as a birthday treat for my December birthday in 2005, besides a dinner treat in Manchester. I had given the close friend who asked several suggestions & left them to choose & get the tickets. My birthday arrived & I was driven to Manchester's Palace theatre for the musical "Miss Saigon". We planned to arrive with relaxing time to enjoy the newly refurbished surroundings as the Palace Theatre had been refitted back in the summer of 2005. A very friendly doorman met us on our arrival, eagerly opened up the disabled front entrance & we were accompained to our seats in the balcony, shown them & where the disabled toilets were & then left to have pre show relaxing drinks & mince pies in the first floor bar. My ever observant eye for disabled facilities was quick to note that one level of the bar was at wheelchair height so I could have ordered my own drinks if I was not being looked after capabley by the friend who takes me out. On reaching our seats before curtain up we were approached by the staff to get us a programme & asked if we were alright. The musical "Miss Saigon" was every bit as good as it had seemed from the snatches of music that I had heard previously. At the shows interval we were once more asked if the staff could get us ices & I felt that we were being treated very nicely. After the show, we waited for most people to depart before we took the braille & talking lift back down to the ground floor again. I was very pleased & would recomend visiting the Palace Theatre to anyone.

Architecture? Ambiance? Size of theatre? Typical shows and prices? How hard is it to book? What changes did the refurb make? There's such a lot you could tell us.
