The first thing you see is the beautiful fountain infront of the foyer. Is is pretty spectacular, with bronze water bucks leaping from the water. The foyer itself is massive and must be around two story's high.

...to South Africa, staying at the Palace for two nights was one of the things I was looking forward to the most.
I had read so much about it before the trip and in every picture, it looked just like a fairy tale castle.
I have to admit that when we drove through the gates of Sun City, I was amazed at just how big the resort was. It really is a town in it's own right. It felt like it took us ages to get to the Palace, but ... ...really looked spectacular, just like the fairy tale castle I had imagined.

When I went on my trip to South Africa, staying at the Palace for two nights was one of the things I was looking forward to the most.

I have to admit that when we drove through the gates of Sun City, I was amazed at just how big the resort was. It really is a town in it's own right. It felt like it took us ages to get to the Palace, but when we went up the drive and saw the hotel, I was amazed at what I saw. It really looked spectacular, just like the fairy tale castle I had imagined.

One of the main facilities in the hotel is the water-park. It has a large wavepool, which begins on a man made beach, three good sized water slides and a lazy river. If you are lying beside the pool and hear a very loud rumbling, you're not going mad. It's actually a bridge beside the water-park that shakes and rumbles every hour on the hour and feels just like an earth quake. It's fantastic and the kids will love it.
The only thing that I wasn't too keen on was the fact that you have to get the bus to go anywhere on the resort, wether it be to the Crocodile Sanctuary or to see a show (even if it is free), and the food.
Both days when I went down for lunch and dinner it was exactly the same food, curry. I did notice that there was a large group of people from an Indian car manufacturer attending a conference, but the hotel can't exclude the rest of the guests to accomodate them.
Overall, I would recommend Sun City for a one or two night stay if you are travelling around the North West province and fancy a bit of fun and relaxation. Just don't expect gormet food!!!
