Went to see this piece of entertainment in Bradford in the Alhambra. With phantom and was pleasantly surprised due to the fact that I'm not really into musicals but got dragged along by the other half. The boat ride through the candles and the singing on the catwalk was breathtaking. The chandelier when it came crashing down was a bit surprising and some people in the audience attempted to jump out of their seats!

Advantages: Be transported to a magical and mysterious world Disadvantages: The price- for a family trip its an expensive outing
Having seen Phantom of the Opera in 2005 and been blown away by the whole production, my fiancé and I decided to treat ourselves to tickets to a performance over the 2006 Christmas period. At £45 a ticket for a matinée performance its not a cheap afternoon out but we knew, having seen it before, it would be worth it.
The performance was at Her Majesty's Theatre in the Haymarket area of London which is easily accessible by Tube, bus or on foot being ... ...For those not familiar with the story of Phantom of the Opera, it is set in Paris in the 1900s, were a ghost is apparently haunting an Opera House. The Phantom (is he a Phantom or is he a disfigured man?You will have to make up your own mind!) takes refuge in the basement of the Opera where he can hide fromt he worlds prying eyes. He comes out only at night to make music and tutor his protegée, Christine. When Christine falls in love with childhood ...

...Loydd Webbers classic Phantom of the Opera Musical, i'm still blown away and would love to go and see it again. If your looking for an outing with the family, with older children, teenagers (as a 3 hour long musical would likely bore a 6 year old) then this is the place to go. I'm only sixteen and went to see the musical with my aunt, all I can say is its outstanding. The scenery, the music, the actors and actresses and the very talented singers. ... ...by this one.
The Musical Itself
The musical is about an opera house in France, which is the home of a Phantom. The phantom falls in loves with a young women Christine, who used to be a very shy person. Under the influence of her teacher (the phantom) Christine improves rapidly on her singing and overcomes her stage fears, to become the lead in the new musical held at the theatre. But one person gets stands between the phantom and his dream of happyness ...

Reviews which might be of interest for "The Phantom of the Opera"
Advantages: A night of theatrical magic - immerse yourself. Disadvantages: None I can think of - the experience is worth the face value of the top priced seats.
The review is based on a performance in August, although the cast is still the same.
As a surprise, I treated Best Friend to an evening performance. He had never seen the show, although we have both caterwauled and massacred Think of Me countless times whilst inebriated.
Phantom is of course an old warhorse that keeps going and going...a permanent fixture in the West End. But for sheer scale, overblown melodrama, soaring aria-lites, volume of fabric, and a funkylicious dum-dum-dum-dum 80s drum-synth ala Sylvester Cat chasing Tweety Bird, you cannot beat Phantom.
But this was extra special. Only good things have been said about Ramin Karimloo, the current disfigured resident of the Opera House. And you can see why. Said to only be on stage for less than 30 minutes, the Phantom's presence needs to be all meanacing and all ...
Advantages: great night out Disadvantages: a bit expensive
anyone that been to this special opera will learn to sing the songs and learn to love the opera. too bad i do not have a chance to see it again, or else, no matter the price ticket, i will go and watch again and again. i like the songs very much, and i must say. i think anyone that like the opera will surely like the songs and will know how to sing it. i know i do. i bought the cd and was listening to it all my way back home. i was listening to it the entire week after that. it's like a fever! i even checked out some homepages , specially for this opera. if you haven;t seen it, well search for the webpages, and take a preview and see it. i think you'll love it for life. watch it on the first day of your trip, so if you want to watch it another time, you'll still have loads of time to see it again. a good bet. ...
Advantages: The most amazing sight I have ever seen! Disadvantages: Im at home now and not still there!!!
Yesterday I went to see Phantom of the opera, and it was so good that i am still gobsmacked now. After seeing the film starring gerard butler, i couldnt imagine how it would be portrayed on a stage.
We managed to get 2nd row tickets, right in the middle! It was truly an amazing show. I cant review it to its full potential without giving away the surprises that it holds. You will have to go and experience it for yourselves!!
But one thing I will say is that at the begining when they 'illuminate' the chandelier, it felt as if it were a metre above my head when it rose to the ceiling.
The actors and actresses are truly superb, and also the costumes, set designs and special effects are outstanding!! There was a boat and candles rising out of mist- just like the film!!!
I especially loved the way how the audience was slightly ...
