The Cape of great hotel!

Advantages: Great location
Disadvantages: Not that family friendly

The Radisson SAS Waterfront was a great hotel situated on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean, with views of the Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, Robben Island and Table Mountain. The hotel was just on the edge of the town centre. Most hotels are located around the Victoria and Alfred waterfront complex and, as such, have particularly steep prices. The Radisson was walking distance to the V&A waterfront but did not suffer from extortionate prices (our room came in at about £70 a night). It had a sizeable car park and was well situated for driving down the coast of Cape Town. At the time of booking, we were not offered a choice on rooms so ended up with a basic room only. This was fine but we missed out on views of the harbour that could be seen from rooms at the back of the hotel. The room was spacious (approx 36 sq meters) with a king size ...

Portswood Cycle Shop

Advantages: excellent service
Disadvantages: none

An excellent service from start to finish. Portswood Cycle Shop is located opposite The Mitre pub and there is free parking on the road outside the shop for 30 minutes which is useful if you are planning to buy a new bike. Otherwise The Mitre pub has a pay a display car park. I was given a very warm welcome when I went into the shop. I didn't even need to ask for any help as I was somebody came to my aid immediately when I brought in one of my bikes to be repaired. This shop has a great range of bikes on offer but on this visit I needed to have 2 bikes repaired which was done quickly and efficiently at a reasonable price. They even offered to help me put the bike in the car. ...

ON THE WATERFRONT

Advantages: Superb situation
Disadvantages: It's a shopping mall

transformation in recent years from a crime-ridden, drug-infested, slum of urban decay and industrial degradation into one of the most cosmopolitan, chic, and desirable areas of Edinburgh. There are exclusive new luxury housing developments, disused warehouses have been renovated into stylish apartments, art galleries and exclusive shopping all sit comfortably amongst the quay-sides and cobbled streets which somehow manage to co-exist alongside the harsher, gritty landscape that still pertains in much of Leith. This is especially true on the Waterfront. Over the next few years, there are plans to further develop the Waterfront quite substantially with over 10,000 new homes, millions of square feet of office, retail and leisure space, and around 1,000 new hotel rooms. OCEAN TERMINAL is a fairly new (2001) shopping and entertainment complex ...
