Estella Hotel and Apartments Did NOT Disappoint!

Advantages: Excellent location, superb customer service levels and lovely rooms
Disadvantages: No real facilities for the disabled

Estella Hotel Apartments is based in Limassol in Southern Cyprus where I stayed for 6 nights in late April/early May of 2009 with my cousin. The booking was made via Expedia.co.uk and worked out at approximately £200 for 2 of us sharing a twin apartment (just £100 each basically). Before I confirmed the booking through Expedia I went off and did a bit of research on the hotel to make sure I wasn?t getting something that was cockroach infested. The hotel?s website, although fairly basic in appearance, made the hotel look pleasant enough and I sent an email to the hotel asking what amenities were included in the rooms/apartments. I received a reply in very clear English very promptly and then started a chain of emails between myself and the very helpful contact at Estella, a lovely lady called Helen (who was away in Australia during ...

Queenstown - a sparkling Kiwi gem

Advantages: New Zealand scenery at its best
Disadvantages: Some say a bit pricey!!!

, compact town, having a look at the trout which swim around the pier or meandering up into the hills to watch a day in the life of Queenstown. There is a bit of a goldmining theme going on in Queenstown, so there are attractions which take you back in time when Chinese and other hopeful's scoured the rugged hills and dangerous, torrential rivers for that precious ore. Actually, Queenstown exists due to these hardy goldminers. It's history goes back to times when the Maori also searched - for Pouanamu (greenstone, or jade) and the Moa bird (now extinct!). Along came the goldminers, who needed a place to settle, so they did; around 1860 Queenstown became a goldminers' camp. It is much more than that today. It is a vibrant, day or night, town which really does move. Bus tours by the dozens bring international travellers to plush hotels ...

Review of Queenstown

Good hotel, Not so good apartments.

Advantages: Location, location, location
Disadvantages: Out of date, overpriced.

I stayed in a one bedroom bedroom apartment here. It was in a great location for tourists, short-stayers, theatre goers and shoppers. The staff were friendly, helpful and had perfect english. They were on hand almost 24/7 and the service certainly matched the advertised 4 stars. The apartment itself would have been 4 stars 5-10 years ago, that was very clear but it is in definite need of refurbishment. Each apartment was decorated differently - themed almost. We did not specify a preference at time of booking as we were not offered the option to. Our apartment was dated, garish and overly feminine. It was aiming for luxury but was more mutton dressed as lamb with damaged gold wallpaper with a 'regal' stripe and an interesting carpet and bedding colour combo! The lounge was much of the same but well equipped and the kitchen was in ...
