Advantages: Beaches, attractions Disadvantages: English weather
Torre Abbey Sands, to the left there is Torre Station, or continuing on is Paignton. Infront of you there is Torre Abbey Meadows, behind is Torre Abbey and the many hotels and B&B's Torquay has to offer. To the right is Torquay famous promenade, there is the Princess Gardens and the Princess Theatre. Continuing on is Torquays famous harbour, although there is quite a bit of regeneration work going on here right now. Carrying on there are arcades, victorian buildings and then the shops. Torquay has a large selection of shops, both big name stores such as Debenhams or River Island to little quaint shops. There are many gift shops and plenty of bars and restaurants.

Tankersley Manor is a place that I have been to a few times over the years and it was also the location of my work's Christmas Party at the end of last year.

THE BACKGROUND
From the outside Tankersley Manor is quite impressive to say the least, standing in its own well maintained Gardens and Grounds and surrounded by Woodland the building itself is a rather imposing Stone built building.

THE FACILITIES
Tankersley Manor has a Restaurant, a Health Club and 70 rooms all with en suite facilities. Much of the building has been restored to its original character and there are original Oak beams on the ceilings ...
Advantages: Great for conferences Disadvantages: Not overly romantic...if you want romance!

**Getting there**
The hotel is situated between Sheffield and Barnsley
From North and South-follow the M1
From East-take the M18 then join M1 North towards Sheffield/Leeds
From West-take M62. Leave at Junction 29, which becomes Junction 42 of the M1
Exit the M1 at Junction 36 and follow the signs for A61 Sheffield. After half a mile, turn left onto Church Lane and Tankersley Manor is on the right.
If travelling by train, it is about 3 / 4 miles from Barnsley train station and costs about £9.
**ENTRANCE**
When we drove in through the large gates, what struck me initially was the number of car parking spaces. This is definitely one place which has set ...
