For those who are unfamiliar, the RitzCarlton chain is part of the Marriott group and provides seventy upscale luxury properties over the world. The chain is arguably one of the west?s finest hotel chains with it?s closest rival in Canada?s Four Seasons chain. Ritz-Carlton is luxury there is no doubt, but how does it compare to Asian properties? Lets find out?

I love a big wedding as much as the next person. However when it was my turn, I did not want to spend a year planning anything large and instead chose to go overseas to celebrate only with immediate family. The first six days of our combined wedding and honeymoon trip were to be spent in San Francisco. I was looking for somewhere special to stay because one of these days was to be the wedding day. There are a handful of five star hotels in San Francisco but the RitzCarlton is one of the highest rated, had just had a $12.5m refurbishment and I think I was won over by the impressive white façade complete with roman pillars.

the crack of dawn anyway, was not something we were looking forward to. However this would be a first time anyone from our company who works in the sales department would had visited this country and so it was also a mix of excitement as seeing the country we send hordes of passengers through on flights but not into to stay!

The hotel they had chosen to place us in for the day was the RitzCarlton Doha. We didn't obviously stay overnight as our flight time meant leaving for the airport not long after midnight. However, a full inspection of the hotel took place including a rather nice lunch!
