Initially Canterbury ChristChurch wasn't top of my list, yet with an unexpected set of grades it was Canterbury that were the first to offer me a place and the chance to visit the campus. I visited for the first time on a snowy December day just a few days before Christmas. As I disembarked the train from London and walked up the High Street toward the campus it was almost picture perfect for the time of year with the old tudor shops and the smell of roasted chestnuts in the air.
On arriving at the campus it struck me that the majority of students there are reasonably local or from London and its suburbs. There are also a small number of foreign students from all corners of the globe. The atmosphere is very welcoming ...

, something that I confess to not be completely familiar with. Having said that I have been brought up within the Church of England and although I have not worshipped in a Church since I was a Child, I still recall most of the more prominent stories from the Bible.
The opening scenes of the film are somewhat strange but these set the tone for what is to follow. Within strangely lit surroundings we find the figure of Jesus, played by the relatively unknown Actor, Jim Caviezel, knelt down on the floor in the Garden of Gethsemane. Here we see Christ struggling to deal with the sins of the World.
The whole film covers a period of just a few days of Christ's life, from his atonement in Gethsemane to his arrest and crucifixion. There are many events here that have been covered in other films time and time again but what Mel Gibson achieves here ...

Ever since reading Sir Walter Scott?s ?Ivanhoe? as a pre-teen, I have been fascinated by knights, especially the Poor Fellow-Soldiers of Christ and of the Temple of Solomon, or the Knights Templar as they are more colloquially known. Their white mantle with the blood red cross emblazoned on it inspired childhood daydreams of glorious battles, war horses and many a damsel saved from distress. Of course, in those days, I didn?t really know much about their past.
