...Great value hotel right in the heart of Manhattan,at 147 West 43rd St, NewYork. Just off Times Square but more a quiet oasis than bustling metropolis. Extremely well run.
Totally themed out in Morroccan style (mosiac tiling and palms throughout) its actually pretty authentic. Owner and staff are all North African or at least second generation.
Bookings can be made and discounts can be haggled over online at casablancahotel.com.
Thers free wine and cheese on various days in the lounge plus free internet access. They dont have a gym pool but give you free access to the one next door with amazing views. And its cheaper than other hotels of the same standard due to only having 48 rooms. Well worth it....

Advantages: well, it is New York, I suppose Disadvantages: disorganised and crowded
...We stopped over st Newark on our way to Orlando and it was a mess!!
As we flew into New York on our first ever visit to the United States we were hoping to god that the place was going to get better but it didn't!
Nothing was sign posted, there didn't seem to be anyone around to help and we were stuck in this place for 4 hours with nowhere to go and absolutely nothing to do.
For such a major city, I was very unimpressed with the place!
I guess as a whole we don't spend that much time at an airport so the fact that it is a means of getting into somewhere like New York would let it off the hook slightly!!...

Advantages: Something for everybody. Disadvantages: Should know what to expect in a diverse STATE!
...Whenever someone mentions NewYork, one immediately imagines tall buildings, traffic jams, rude people, concrete jungle, etc. New YorkCITY is often the mental image conjured at the mention of NY. New York State is so much more than New YorkCity. Life tends to become a slower pace in Upstate NewYork. Upstate New York is anything north of Westchester County or New YorkCity.
The small area of New YorkCity has the bulk of NY's population. There are close to 17 million people within NYC and 13 million in the rest of the State. The State motto is Excelsior(Ever Upward). State politics favor New YorkCity and the Albany capital region as the most developed and prosperous parts of the State.
Certain parts of the State get pounded with feet or meters of snow each year, while some areas get hardly any. In the Adirondacks temperatures can...

The New Yorker is in an excellent midtown location with the subway (lines A, C & E) literally steps outside. Being on the corner of 8th Avenue and 34th Street this meant good access to Macy's, Empire State Building, Madison Square Gardens and the... more
Postmodernism, eh? It's a funny old bag of fish. Even the holier-than-thou critics don't quite seem to know what it's all about. They argue whether it's
a) a revolt against modernism,
b) a progression of modernism,
c) both of these and more
or d) more
