I have to say this is my favourite central London hotel and my first choice when I go.

Location, location, location....
As the name suggests in is located in Trafalgar Square in London and is easily accessible by tube.

First Impressions
The seting of Trafalgar square is impressive in itself but the hotel is set in a lovely old building in the south west corner. When stepping inside though there is a sharp contrast as you are hit by a truely modern and chic surrounding. It would be fair to say that this is not your standard Hilton.

Reception - Check-in/Check-out
I found checking in (and out) very quick in easy it was all done in a matter of minutes. The reception desk is a sort floating glass desk just next to the hotels large downstairs bar. The reception staff were really helpful and I have no complaints whatsoever.

Rooms
Very modern and contemporary. I loved the rooms here - They were quite minimalist in neutral tones. The bed was huge (Very comfy!) with a large oak headboard that spanned nearly the whole wall. The chairs are also modern and ergonomically designed, there was actually nice (unlike on the walls of most hotels!) paintings on the walls, and the room lots of lamps which provided lovely mood lighting. I have to say that it is the sort of room which has to be seen to be appreciated and if you picked up a decorating/homes magazine it would not look out of place in one!

The rooms also have high-speed internet access, dvd and cd player and playstations as well as all the usuals.

Facilities
The hotel has a small gym which is perfectly adequate if you're staying for a few days. Downstairs in the reception area there is the Rockwell bar which leads to the Rockwell restaurant. I haven't eaten here so can't comment on the food but have enjoyed a glass of wine in the bar which was always quite busy and had a nice atmosphere. It was great for a pre-dinner drink. In addition, the hotel has a roof garden bar/restaurant (which i would impagine has excellent views!) but I never made it to this.

Parking
The hotel does not have its own car park but there is a NCP car park just behind it. I think the hotel offers a 25% discount on parking here.

Prices
Midweek I have paid around £160 a night. That is booking direct with hotel but I'm sure it is possible to find cheaper deals on the internet and for over weekends.

Families
I'm sure this hotel would be fine if you stayed with children but it doesn't give the impression of being very family orientated. It mainly attracts business guests during the week and i think it would mainly attract couples or friends at the weekend. Also, with it being quite modern it has a young vibe about it and the restaurant is not really geared up for children.

Would I go back?
Definitely, this hotel is very conveniently located and I have always enjoyed my stay here.

Who should stay here?
I think this is the ideal hotel to stay in if you are looking for somewhere in central London that is a bit different and stands out from Holidays Inns and other chains without being too expensive.
