The first thing that hits you about the Trafford Centre is it's sheer size, it is absolutely massive. The car parks alone, if all put together, would probably be as big as Wenbley Stadium. It is extremely important to take careful note of where you leave your car, especially in the underground car park, they all look the same. I have had the experience of loosing my car in the underground car park. I thought it had been stolen and went to the customer service desk. They called out security who patrolled the car parks in a land Rover they have specially for this sort of job. They found my car in the car park next door and I felt a right prat. But, I am not the first, and certainly won't be the last, person to do this so please take note. Ok, the Trafford centre iteslf is built on two levels. The maps on the boards and the leaflets are very good and it is easy to find your way around. If you do get stuck just head for the Dolphin Fountain. This is about as central as you can get and almost anyone will know where it is. Anyone walking around with a red jacket on is a member of the Trafford Centre staff and they nearly all carry radios so it is very easy to get a first aider or security for example. It is important to note that the Trafford Centre is almost completely non-smoking. The only bit where smoking is allowed is in the smoking areas in the food hall. Everywhere else is non-smoking, even the shopping malls. There is an excellent bus service to and from the Trafford Centre. Outside Selfridges there is a bus stop where you can also catch taxis. The Trafford Centre does get extremely busy especially around holidays and weekends so if you are planning to visit at these times please allow extra time for your journey and for your actual walk round the centre itself. At 5PM every week day, the roads get absolutely jammed around the centre so it is a good idea to stay away at this time. If you are in the centre, stay there for at least another hour and if you are thinking of visiting then, I would think again a bit harder :-) All in all though, the Trafford Centre is well worth a visit. there are lots of good shops, some which can only otherwise be found in London.
