Holidays are looming, the family needs new clothes, suntan lotion, cameras etc the list goes on.
I cannot face another day traipsing round town centres, not knowing whether to put a coat on or even if I should take a brolly. (British weather)
So I decided to take the family to the Trafford centre. It has been up and running for a few years now, but this was my first visit, and yes I will definately go there again.
All under one roof suits me fine, when I say roof I mean roof, no more walking in the rain.
The centre itself is warm and friendly, with two floors of shops, shops and more shops what more could you want. The floors are made of granite and marble very attractive and clean, no more doggy poop and other nasty surprises waiting for you to step in, there are also water features dotted around. Dolphins shooting the water 20 metres high is a sight for sore eyes and fascinating for the kids.
Shops
include big names such as Selfridges, Ann harvey, boots, Smiths, Allsports, Debenhams, carphone warehouse, barrats, JJB Sports, Burtons, Marks & Spencer.
If you are looking for that extra fashion accessory there are shops like,Gap,Monsoon, Zara, Tommy Hilfiger, Reiss, Mango, Morgan, Jacques Vert, Tommy Hilfiger, Ralph Lauren. Not forgetting larger ladies there is an Evans outsize shop.
If you don't fancy tackling big stores just visit the various kiosks that are up and down selling odds and bods, jewellery, sweets, unique little gadgets etc
Fed up with shopping why not visit the megaplex cinema with 20 screens showing the latest film.
Food, Food and more food, what do you prefer british, Chinese, Italian, burgers, coffee and baguettes, too many to choose from.
Shopping times vary, depending what you are there for.
Shops. Mon-fri. 10am-10pm. Sat 9am-7pm sun 12.00 -6pm
Some food places mon-fri 10am-midnight. sat 9am-midnight sun 10am-midnight
Cinema mon-thurs 10am-midnight fri 10am-3am sat 9am-3am sun 11am-midnight
Good news. Parking is free and they have disabled places.
For those of us who have got mobility problems you can hire battery operated scooters or manual wheelchairs. All the public areas have toilets and lifts for wheelchair use.
Trafford centre does not only cater for people who have got mobility problems, they also try to cater for blind and deaf people. Braille menus are available at some outlets People who are deaf can get help from a sign language communicator or lip speaker to help them do their shopping.
We know that it can be a bind carting a pram/buggy etc around if you have got young children, but have no fear at the centre you can hire buggies and security wrist bands for your little angels. You will also notice that there are babies changing facilities and breast feeding rooms and bottle warming equipment.
For those of us who ran short of petrol our worries are over because at the Trafford centre there are 20 pumps, and the station is open 24 hours a day.
How much are things? It depends on what you want, for holidays I look for cheap clothes to be used as beach wear, it does not matter then if they get ruined. My hubby got shorts for £14 from Blue inc. He could have got them all most identical from Next for £28. The choice is up to you. I saw light summer dresses (the sort you would wear to the beach for £150 why pay that for a day on the sand.....get real. I bought one from dorothy perkins for £30.
Dinner time was not bad we paid £25 for a meal for 3 it tasted home cooked and well worth the money. But a word of warning if you want to stop for a coffee every 30 minutes as I do it is a rip off, unless you want to sit in a mcdonalds with a plastic cup. Coffee at a coffee shop thing costs about £1.80 (they know you are trapped in the centre and need a drink, so they put the prices high) so 3 coffees cost £5.40 a lot to pay every 30 minutes or so. That was my only complaint though.
So if you have got children, disabled family members or just don't want to go out wearing a coat and carrying a brolly, visit the trafford centre. I have only mentioned a few shops here to give you a rough idea, visit it for yourself, you won't be disappointed.
Thanks for the read.....gill
