Advantages: Excellent dollar rate, laid back city Disadvantages: Spent too much shopping and did not get to see the famous New England Fall trees!
– shopping we did! With the incredible dollar- pound rate at the minute it was a great time to go bargain hunting.
Boston has great shops – everything you would expect in an American cosmopolitan city. The usual department stores Macy’s – Saks of 5th ave, or Barnes and Noble are all to be found. It was great to get cosmetics and clothes for approximately half the price you would expect to pay in the UK. I was luck enough to get my much longed for Tiffany’s necklace from Paul – although l did have to wait until Christmas day to unwrap my gift!
The huge shopping complex at Copley Place off Huntington Ave – is an upper class shopping experience – expect to find all the designer labels under this roof. Also check out the basement at the city’s own department store Filenes’s ...

Advantages: Comfortable, clean, good location Disadvantages: Prices during the week
I like my home comforts when I am travelling abroad, but Mr Tart is quite happy to stay in any old hostel. We were looking for somewhere to stay on a trip to Boston and had decided that a guest house would be a happy medium. However, they weren?t that cheap and when I had a look on Expedia and found a Hilton for less money I couldn?t believe my luck!
LOCATION:
This Hilton is located in Boston?s Financial District. It is at 89 Broad Street. Despite it being in the Financial District we found it very easy to walk from the hotel to the main tourist sites of the city. Quincy Market and the Old State House were only 10 minutes walk away.
PRICES:
The price of this particular hotel seems to vary a lot depending on when you stay and who you book through. As the hotel is in the Financial District it puts up a lot of business ...
Advantages: Historic, culturally diverse and not too huge a city. Disadvantages: Not many, unless you don't like cities, or America, or fish.
move the upper lip, all you need to do is to convert all ?R? sounds to ?aah? sounds and you can almost certainly pass as a Bostonian. Well done. Now where were we? Oh yes...
Let?s go down Boyleston Street.
Now, if you were to go left onto Boyleston, you?d find yourself quite quickly at Fenway Park; home of the fabulous Boston Redsox baseball team (Well OK, maybe they?re not THAT fabulous, but I like them anyway), while if you turn right onto Boyleston, you?d quickly find yourself in the vicinity of several decent bars and restaurants...MUCH more important than baseball! As you?re in the area, why not drop into George?s Bar, which isn?t really anything special; just a nice, friendly local bar with good food and fantastically attractive barstaff...say hi to TJ for me...she?s the really drop-dead gorgeous one with long straight hair ...
