A Holiday in(n) Leamington Spa? Well near enough!

Advantages: Great location for exploring Warwick or RLS
Disadvantages: Eratic customer service and staff abilities

I?m torn between writing a glowing report of a hotel that is in a perfect position for travellers and business people alike or one that tears into the staff for their failings. LOCATION Firstly this hotel is in an odd position, just outside Royal Leamington Spa itself on a Retail Park / Business Estate, which isn?t as bad as it sounds but don?t expect stunning views of the surrounding countryside if you?re on the wrong side of the hotel! Incidentally, ignore the hotel blurb that says it ?overlooks? Warwick Castle ? IF you are on the right side of the hotel you can just about see the castle on a good day. It was built as a Marriott Hotel which has been taken over by the Holiday Inn chain who is owned by the InterContinental Hotels Group, they are best known in the UK for the Holiday Inn brand and Crowne Plaza hotels. Personally I ...

Review of Holiday Inn, Leamington Spa

Last Drop Village Hotel

Advantages: Full usage of Spa, gym, pool
Disadvantages: Choice of food served in main restaurant

We have recently returned from our 3-day break at this hotel. After reading other reviews of this hotel we were very apprehensive about our stay. On our arrival we were greeted by very friendly staff and made to feel very welcome. We were given very clear details of the facilities available to us and also breakfast and dinner times. Our executive room was lovely , clean and warm and well worth the extra supplement. Great choice at breakfast and carvery was very nice at the alternative restaurant The Last Drop Inn. In my opinion we have had a very pleasurable stay, staff were very attentive and nothing was too much trouble.Glad to see that the small quaint shops were still to the rear of the hotel which are not mentioned on their website. In my opinion there website does not do the hotel justice and needs some updating. If you want to ...

Review of Macdonald Last Drop Village Hotel & Spa, Bolton

Bolton last drop village

Advantages: Not far from Bolton retail park, infinity pool, facitlies are excellent
Disadvantages: staff weren't as helpful as other hotels

We received an email from Macdonald to say they had special offers on certain hotels so we looked into them further. We chose this one as it had a wide range of facilities and was only an hour away from where we live so was a nice weekend break. When we arrived, the place was quaint. It is an old fashioned little village, complete with tea rooms, pub, bakery, and various other little shops. We were told we could check in from 1 so we arrived for 1 and were told that the room wasn't ready so we went into the tea rooms for afternoon tea. We went back to reception at 2 and were told that our room still wasn't ready so to wait in the lounge or have a wander round. There was no apology for the delay. We finally got into our room at 2.45. We had decided to get a four poster bed room as it was for a special occasion. The room was ...
