Advantages: City centre location Disadvantages: Expensive, noisy at night times.
The Arlington Hotel is situated in the heart of Dublin, just off O?Connell Street, and across the river from the Temple Bar area of the city.
The entrance hall and adjoining Knightsbridge Bar are decorated like something out of a medieval movie, complete with a faux set of armour. While the entrance and reception are always well lit, the bar is quite dark even during the day.
According to the hotel?s website, it boasts 131 rooms, ranging from double rooms to twin and even triplet rooms. On my last visit, we stayed in a twin room. It was lovely and spacious, and there was a TV, en suite bathroom and a kettle (complete with tea and coffee).
We had a good view across the River Liffy. At first, we thought this was fantastic - until, of course, night descended. The wind roared the whole night, traffic rattled by, and we could hear ...
Advantages: In the centre of Dublin Disadvantages: Rooms in need of being redecorated
The Arlington hotel is in the centre of Dublin nest to the river Liffey. I went with my husband and 7 other friends- which ended up with us requiring 3 double rooms 1 twin room and one single- we booked online and took up their offer of the winter madness (this meant by going Monday to Wednesday we would have free breakfast both mornings and one free evening meal for ?99 per person per night) this was available for us all except for the one who booked a single room and had to pay for his meal.
Booking for this many people online we were a bit worried that there would be a lot of problems (it's not the same talking to someone on the phone) and when we arrived sure enough only 2 double rooms had been booked but the hotel reception staff were very efficient in getting us another room that would be ready the same time as the others. Then ...
Advantages: There really are a couple of stunning tracks and it is essentially the same Dolls sound Disadvantages: You get the impression that many of the tracks are recycled versions of better songs...
suits, albeit a suit without the dinner jacket. The group always have pretty unique, overtly sexual art work that will undeniably rub many up the wrong way but there is something else I have wrong with the artwork from 'No, Virginia...'
Amanda Palmer, as I've mentioned before this part of the review, does come across on odd occasions to be a bit ostentatious; whether this is just a persona or not, I'?m not too sure. I do want to slap her on the inside of the cover - she seems to be glorifying herself by glancing to the heavens and holding her hands in a mock shock motif - where an album such as 'No, Virginia...' just doesn't require it. At best, really, the album is average. And after being a big fan of the group's previous work, I have to say I was very disappointed with this offering.
Anyway, back to the artwork, and the front ...
