This hotel is in an excellent location which is why they can charge the prices they do.
The hotel is steeped in history and you can tell just by looking at the building of it's age and the stories it could tell if it could.
Lincoln is a great place to visit and it's main tourist area is the Steep Hill area of the city. It is called Steep Hill for a reason- it is very steep! There are lots of little tea rooms, gift shops and an award winning restaurant or two in this location.
Right in the heart of this is the cathedral and the castle and a stone's throw from them? The Whit Hart hotel.
The White Hart was built in the 14th century as a coaching inn and since then has grown and become a very well known hotel with customers coming back year after year.
What are the rooms like? Rooms vary but all are well equipped, however, several that I have been in look as though they could dow ith a bit of a referbishment as they are a little dated and the bathrooms are small. All rooms have been clean.
What is the restaurant like? The restaurant is amazing. It is very clean, sedate and the food is fantastic. One some nights there is a pianist too to accompany your meal. The food was all really very nice, not a large selection but what we had was lovely and the desserts were yummy! The breakfasts too were very good with a wide variety of choice from full cooked breakfasts to pastries.
What does the hotel offer? The hotel can beused for conferences and weddings which is a great area to have one with all the history there are plenty of places for a photo opportunity both inside and out.
Are there any special events? Yes! At Christmas The White Hart puts on murder mystry parties, special entertianment at New Year and throughout the year there are special offers for couples wanting a special night away where they can stay and have champagne and hand made local chocolates in their room. There is sometimes a Sunday offer too where you can stay for dinner, bed and breakfast for a reducted rate.
Is there parking? yes there is a small car park across the road well within easy reach.
What are the prices like? Prices range depending upon but on general range from £70 a night per room to £160 depending on the room type.
Would you reccommend it? I would reccommed Lincoln itself and this hotel is central to the main area so it is a great place if you want to treat yourselves as it is quite pricy so you may have slighty higher expectations.
