to the mid-fifteenth century. The oldest hotel in town, it is close to all the attractions and local shops. The bedrooms offer a blend of tradition and comfort; some of them have beamed ceilings and larger beds. The lounge has sofas and fireplaces. The formal restaurant and bar provide delicious and interesting cooking.
birthplace, the historic town of Stratford-upon-Avon. Although the facilities and standard of comfort at The White Swan have kept pace with the passage of the time, much of the original charm and atmosphere remain as a legacy of its long and interesting history. Nowhere is this more evident than in the Oak Room Restaurant, a unique wood panelled room adjoining the cosy bar. Low beams, a large open fire, antique furniture and its own captivating mural create an environment harking back to a bygone age. The White Swan is over five hundred years old and is undoubtedly the oldest building in Stratford, which is today used as an inn. Before becoming an inn the hotel was a bakery where, legend has it, Shakespeare himself bought his daily loaf of bread! With its striking half-timbered Tudor frontage and within easy reach of motorway networks, Birmingham International Airport and Stratford train station, The White Swan is a perfect venue for business or pleasure. Our 41 bedrooms accommodate all guests whether travelling alone on business, as a group, a couple or as a family. All bedrooms are ensuite and in keeping with the traditional feel of the building with a mix of both antique and practical furnishings. Many of the bedrooms feature wooden beams or views over the picturesque town. You will find all personal amenities including refreshment tray, hairdryer, personal toiletries as well as 24 Hour Room Service and internet connection. The White Swan offers two rooms for an array of different events from exhibitions, private functions and training sessions to a simple boardroom meeting. The Heritage Room provides a great meeting place for businesses near and far for up to 25 delegates, complete with stationery and equipment if required. The Shakespeare is a beautiful, light and airy room which can accommodate up to 80 guests and is a great setting to celebrate a special occasion or wedding with family and friends. The hotel is located close to the Birmingham International Airport and Stratford train station. White Swan hotel in Stratford is easily accessible from the major motorway networks.

Advantages: Too many to mention Disadvantages: Busy as all tourist traps are
...Although some people have chosen to denounce Stratford-upon-Avon, I have lived within 30 miles of this beautiful town for most of my life and have visited it innumerable times. As a child I resented the fact that every time a visitor came we took them there but as an adult I now realise the folly of my former ways. I have now enjoyed many productions of the RSC and this year have taken A GCSE student (my son) to see Anthony Scher in Macbeth (astounding performance by the way!). I have also persuaded my husband (a reluctant theatregoer) to Shakespeare. We saw The Rivals (Sheridan's restoration comedy) with Wendy Craig at the Swan Theatre....

Advantages: It's Shakespeare's birthplace Disadvantages: Expensive and difficult parking
...There are several places to visit in stratford-upon-avon. The most popular being the birthplace of William Shakespeare. The hut that Shakespeare used to live in as a baby was well quite a historical place. What I like is the garden compound. The day when I went, there was sort of a school band festival which livened up the atmosphere of the town. The town is similar to any English towns but with more foreign faces and old buildings. Accommodation is relatively easy to find. Though variety of restaurants exist in Stratford-upon-avon, the serving times are not so appropriate. We could not find a restaruant that serve dinner after 7pm. In fact, lots of the English restaurants serve only drinks after 7pm....

...Growing up in one of the main tourist attractions in the UK does have its advantages and also its disadvantages however once our campsite in Alton Towers was discovered within the bowels of Nemesis we had to move out so we lived in StratfordUponAvon.
I resided in Stratford for the first 18 years of my life and also a five year spell in my early thirties and it is a town I still visit as my parents and old school friends still live there. Like most residents the only time I ever visited any of the tourist attractions was when we had guests visiting but the great thing about Stratford is that it is surrounded by some of the finest countryside in the country in the form of the Cotswolds and is a great location to explore some other attractions near by.

Nusrat in a diferent style.
Its hard to think what the thinking was behind this concert. It could well be as Nusrat often said he changes his music to suit the audiance. On this occasion it could well have been a step to far. Nusrats voice shines as... more
I booked this hotel because I thought it was a bargain at £40 for a triple room, which was cheaper than us getting a taxi home! The location of the hotel is great, it is just a few mins walk from the train station, it is opposite the centre for life and... more
