I stayed in the York in a serviced apartment in 2002. We had a great view of the city centre from our balcony, the room was HUGE! and also had (as you would expect from they type of room) washing/drying facilities, fully fitted kitchen, the furniture was of a very good standard (the bed was marvellous!) and we had cable TV (not that we watched it much) also it was a quiet room with no noise from other appts.

It was the 1st place we stayed in Sydney and we used the fact that it was close to the city to full advantage.

In that 1 week we explored (on foot as it is quite small) all of the CBD (Central Business District - AKA city centre) it is all easily accessible from the York. Darling Harbour is a short trip away as is Circular Quay - which is where you can get a ferry to most places in the Sydney area. China town is on the same road that the York is on and there is a cinema close by (10 min walk) they now have a Krispy Kream's just over the road and there are plenty of bars in the area, but they do get busy especially on Friday nights.

The appt itself was cleaned every day, the staff were very helpful with maps and directions. We made good use of the very well equipped gym and swimming pool that they have.

I would recommend this hotel to you if you need to be centrally located and need a relaxing place to unwind in after seeing the sights.
