I stayed in the Thistle hotel in Bristol in the summer of 2003. That was a business trip so I didn't bother about any luxuries, just expected a bit of comfort.
Checking in was easy. Although I was not paying the bill myself (the company did the booking and was picking up the bill), the receptionist still wanted to swipe my credit card. OK, fine by me...
My room was fairly comfortable, average size; the bathroom was quite clean with a supply of shampoo and shower cream but anything extra - like a shower cap - no, nothing like that. And the washbasin was blocked - that was unpleasant.
Early the next morning I was woken up by shouting seagulls but I suppose that comes with the territory, so I can't complain about that.
The breakfast was decent, I suppose like everywhere else.
The customer service struck me as a bit unfriendly. I asked them to call a taxi about an hour before leaving and the taxi didn't arrive. I don't know whose fault it was, but I was late for work.
Would I stay there again? No, thank you! Even if my employer will pay for it! I'll find somewhere else...
