I stayed at this hotel last weekend 19/20 November 2006 for one night. I paid GBP 160 but also had to pay GBP 10 extra for VAT. This included breakfast and was for a sea view double room.
The hotel is situated on the sea front and is about 15 - 20 mins walk from the train station (which can be a bit annoying especially if you are carrying luggage). But it is a straight road down and then turn left at the end. You cant miss the hotel as it stands out quite a bit from the others. It is glass fronted and is a lot bigger than some of the smaller hotels you may pass. The hotel is about a 5 minute walk from Brighton Pier
(come out of the hotel and turn left - you cant miss it)
Once we arrived at the hotel, we were greeted with a flight of stairs to the reception area(about 10) and the lift did not seem like it was for for hotel guests, so we had to carry our luggage up the stairs.
The staff were very friendly and checking in took less than a minute. It was unfortunate that no-one was there to help us with our bags, but at the same time, we didn't ask.
Our room was on the third floor and was very easy to get to (very fast lift that you don't have to wait ages for). The rooms were really spacious and were alot bigger than what i was expecting. The room also had a sofa bed and very good views of the sea.
The bathroom was very clean and there was a good supply of clean towels. They provided, soap, shower gel and shampoo but there wasn't a shower cap. We had a small fridge which is able to fit a large bottle of champagne and perhaps some other small items.
The double bed was huge and was more like a kingsize than the average double. There were four pillows which were not too firm and not too soft either, but very comfortable. The Bedding was comfortable and not scratchy.
The TV had a variety of channels (the standard 5, bbc news, sky sports news and some of which you will have to pay. At the time i went, they were showing the following films on a pay per view basis The breakup, Last Holiday and The wedding crashers. These films are available at GBP 6.95 for the channel for the day (i believe that would entitle you to watch two films). There is also a selection of adult entertainment which is more expensive than the other pay per view.
This hotel is about 2 mins walk from Mama Cheries restaurant which is a nice place to eat (American Soul Food as seen on Gordon Ramsay). 10 tapas style bowls for GBP 15 per person. It is also 5 mins away from Burger King. If you wish to go to the cinema, it is located about 5 minutes right of the hotel. There are more than 15 different places to eat all within a 5 minute walk of the hotel, from bars to chinese.
Breakfast was server between 7.30am and 11 from what i can remember and we didn't get there till 10.30 but there was still and excellent selection. The breakfast was nice and there was a good selection. It was a round buffet style selection with a chef in the middle who is prepared to make your eggs to the way you may like it (i.e sunny side up). All the regular food items were available, i.e. sausages, bacon, egg, scrambled egg, has brown, tomatoes, mushrooms, fresh bread, toast (you have to ask the waiter for toast), croissants, danish, jam, marmalade, cereals (a good selection), fruit - watermelon, grapefruit, apple and oranges already peeled and sliced, muffins etc etc. It all seemed pretty fresh and the restaurant has a sea view which is nice.
We didn't get a chance to examine all the other services i.e Gym, pool etc etc but we looked at it and they all seemed adequate. We weren't too sure if it was free.
Usually if you ask in advance, you could have a late checkout (not sure if this would be free or if there is a charge), however, as the hotel was fully book during our stay, this was not available to us. Checking out took a couple of minutes as we did not have any extra charges.
Above all, its a nice hotel with friendly staff, we were able to leave our bags after we checked out while we went exploring.

great reveiw, although I do think that there should have been someone to help you with your bags - considering the price you were paying - and I don't think that you should have had to ask! hope you had a lurverly time xxx
